Anyone else buy frozen fish at WF, and then wonder why the shrink wrap says to remove fish from the wrap before thawing? I'd like to thaw it in a bowl of water, but obviously, that has to be done in the wrap. I always forget to take the fish out of the freezer in time to just let it thaw in the fridge on a plate. Do you think there is some good reason for not plunking it into a bowl of water for an hour in the wrap?
Are they telling me to remove the wrap because they think I am stupid enough to microwave thaw it in the wrap and they want to be extra sure I don't do that? Is the wrap toxic as the fish thaws? Are the juices nasty as the fish thaws? What??? Do they think I'll start to thaw it in a bowl and leave it for five hours and be poisoned by toxic bacteria that developed?
I'm thawing tonight's fish in a bowl of cold water right now.
Please tell me if you think I am doing wrong to disobey the packaging instructions.
