I stopped by the new Super Tony's in Niles last Sunday to check it out. The bakery is amazing, but I had an awful experience with the meat and the customer service, and I wanted to give other LTHers a heads-up.
I loaded up on chicken thighs and a roaster before the big blizzard. ALL of it was rotten (it was purchased before sell-by date and my fridge temps were fine). When I came back on Friday with documentation to discuss it with meat manager, was accused of lying and trying to scam the store. Hey, Tony's... when a customer cares enough to bring you the labels and information on a batch of bad meat, the right response is to immediately check the rest of your stock and your handling procedures (and maybe offer an apology and a refund). The manager didn't even look at the labels I brought him, and had absolutely NO concern for public health and safety.
This place is beautiful and well-stocked with lots of international items, but you can get MUCH better service (and safer meat) over at Fresh Farms on Touhy. Tony's has lost this customer for good.
