    Cat Guardians 13th Annual
    Chocolate Sunday Plus
    February 3, 2008
    1:00-4:00 p.m.

    Villa Park VFW Hall
    39 E. St Charles Rd
    Villa Park, IL

Treat yourself and your friends to a wonderful buffet of desserts! We ask a $10 donation per person. Please call 630/279-2157 just let us know the number of people coming to this event. We wouldn’t want to run out of food! All proceeds go to Cat Guardians, a non-profit, no-kill shelter for DuPage area kitties.

Last year, some items included Chocolate Zucchini Cake, candies, brownies, cookies, and hot chocolate. It's all you can eat, so if you're in the mood for chocolate, come on by!

Like chocolate? Well you're in luck!
This Sunday is the 15th Annual All-You-Care-to-Eat Chocolate Buffet to benefit a no-kill shelter in Lombard. Only $10, people! Most of the goodies will be homemade. I'll be donating pie, 'natch, and more naughty goodies TBA.

The buffet will be held at the VFW Hall in Villa Park this Sunday, 2/7, from 1pm-4pm.

This is in my neck of the woods, so I may have to make an appearance. Now the question is, do I drive into the city for the Crawfish Boil or do I stick around here for a chocolate buffet? They are happening at the exact same time. Decisions, decisions.

This year's buffet will be on February 6th. So if you're itching to get out of the house during the Super Bowl...

Barring any disasters, I'll be bringing Quadruple Chocolate Brownies, Chocolate Hazelnut Layer Cake, and Mexican Hot Chocolate Cupcakes.

I think I saw your Mexican Chocolate Cupcakes there, but didn't see you. Didn't try them because they looked really intense. I was trying to pace myself, but only made one pass through the desserts. I couldn't bring myself to go back again. My stomach is still stretched to the limit and it's been over two hours.

This was a great event. Lot's of desserts, 79 gift baskets up for silent auction and a raffle to boot. Definately was worth attending.

Neato! If those cupcakes you saw were dipped in ganache and topped with a sugar rose, yes, they were mine. I was very pleased with how they turned out, however, the Tribune recipe was typically incorrect. They made over 22 cupcakes and some were too big, and both the ganache and frosting needed to be doubled, as there wasn't nearly enough, so my dipping looked messy. But after editing this recipe, I'll make these again.

I don't actually work these events, I just drop off sweets and get out of the way. Glad you could make it though! The cats would thank you if they could.

That's a long way to drive and not stay and partake! There were some really great chocolate and non-chocolate desserts, but I overdid it. I'm still feeling it today.
