Alright so i'm looking for some really good spicy chocolate bars...anything infused with chiles or whatever.

Valentine's day comin up....i don't eat chocolate really (yea...i know) but the girl LOVES good spicy chocolate and it'd be nice to get her something from a good local place if possible.

    Suggestions LTHers?

    Thanks

    Dave

Lindt makes a few different bars with chili peppers in the mix. We have bought them at the Lindt factory outlet at the Premium Outlets in Aurora but I think Whole Foods carries them as well. I used to get chocolate jalapeno truffles from a small company in Colorado but them seem to have gone out of business.

I second Vosges. Don't forget the milk chocolate Bacon Bar for yourself.

Next time you're at New Rebozo, drop by Marion Street Cheese Market for the bacon caramels at the front counter. I'm not sure who makes them but they're small-batch and fantastic. There is also a rosemary, sea salt, and macadamia nut version.

These chile chocolate bars are good, but also not as spicy as promised. $5 per bar sounds steep until you compare with Vosges. I've never actually had a really Thai-spicy type chocolate bar; they all tend to run pretty mellow.

Another idea is to make your own spicy chocolate sauce. I have two or three good sauce recipes if you're interested.

The Don't Eat This Bar from Lillie Belle Farms fits the bill. Hottest chocolate bar I've ever eaten. I enjoy shaving it over ice cream to add some heat to an otherwise cool treat. They aren't local, but their chocolates are out of this world.

These are all great suggestions, but I will add that Vosges is local.

Another vote for Vosges - sounds like their Red Fire bar is along the lines of what you're looking for, but they offer a number of unusual flavors in both their truffles and chocolate bars. I'm a big fan.

Ya'll are lifesavers. Vosges it was, got a nice little barrel of spicy chocolate toffee. She loved em and now i have a good resource for worthless-yet-decently-fun holidays.

If i cared for sweets or any of that stuff that store would've been pretty darn enticing. Thanks again LTHers
