I've done a search and come up with threads on wine dinners, tea, and pastries at Pierrot Gourmet but no mention of their "everyday" evening service... I was thinking of heading there after work this evening for a light dinner but can find no indication of their regular menu or prices.

    Has anyone been? Thoughts?

    Thanks!

Google is a wonderful thing: Pierrot Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Thanks! You know, I looked on the Peninsula's site, but that menu is labeled as "Breakfast Menu" so I assumed it didn't have dinner.

We had a small window for pre-Bulls game dining last night because I had to work late. I had the deal from Blackboard Eats for Pierrot Gourmet, so Mr. X met me there. For $28 per person, we had a choice of soup of the day or Pierrot Gourmet field greens salad, a tarte flambee and two miniature desserts, plus a glass of wine (sommellier's choice). Mr. X had the beef barley soup, while I had the salad. I thought the soup stock was nice and beefy and we both enjoyed the barley, which seemed to be a black barley. The salad was very nice: plenty of fresh greens, roasted winter squash, dried cranberries, chunks of brie and candied pecans. It was tossed with a champagne dressing. My only quibble was that it could have used a bit more acid as it skewed sweet.

I had the Alsatian tart, which was bacon, sauteed onion and fromage blanc. Mr. X had the chicken tart flambee, which had pesto, oven-dried tomato, mozzarella, gruyère cheese and basil. The Alsatian was the only one that didn't have pesto and oven-dried tomato, so I ordered it to try more of the menu. I found the Alsatian to be too powerful -- smokey bacon and somewhat stinky cheese. I like stinky cheese, but this overwhelmed me. The chicken tarte flambee worked better for me. Good thing Mr. X shares. :-) I thought the balance of ingredients on the flatbreads was good and the flatbread was appropriately crispy.

We each had a mini eclair for dessert. I also had the mini lemon tart and Mr. X had a chocolate cupcake. They were all quite good. For the wine, I had the Beaujoulais Nouveau that was offered while Mr. X went for the Chardonnay. The wines were fine, certainly nothing fancy.

Overall, it was a pleasant dinner. Since I work nearby, it is definitely a lunch option for me. I might go back to try other things on the menu.
