I guess I'll have to go have a beer at Durty Nellies to "investigate" this rumor

According to one of the owners, they talked to the Roundhouse people in October and nothing has
    come of that conversation...

Walked by the new location for Chicken Planet yesterday and was delighted to see the owners in there, working away. He recognized me, invited me in and told me he expects to have that location open in early March. They were installing some duct work over the grill. I'm thrilled that he is moving so close to my office, as it was one of my very favorite lunch spots when I worked closer to Michigan Avenue. He will now be a block from my current office.

My family is also a fan of Classic Cobbler -- my daughters keep going in there and bringing cobbler home in single size portions. It is interesting to watch them putting the pies and cobblers together through the window -- they are definitely putting a lot of love into this product, and it shows. I only wish they were open on Sundays.

It appears that Kingfisher Seafood is about to open on Clark Street, just south of Gethsemane in the spot where there used to be a Turkish restaurant. Former Pier 5736 guy running it so seafood should be first rate. A little concerned about the prices given the location, but wish them success for adding a good seafood restaurant to Aville/Edgewater.

And before that it was Felices Round Table. The place I had my 1st good steak, it was medium rare as suggested by my dad. My mom always made them extra well done. They also served a cauldron of soup. Nothing but great memories.

I think it was the $15 scallop salad for lunch that caught my eye and raised my concern about prices. Given the foot traffic this far north on Clark, that seemed a bit high but most of the rest seems within reason or good value and given the reputation, it seems like the quality will more than justify the prices. It's just that it's at the end of the strip of restaurants on Clark and even further north than M Henry. For some people, Andersonville ends at Bryn Mawr. But Coffee Chicago and Piatto Pronto have helped boost that stretch's viability. And Leonardo's has survived up there for quite awhile. So, it should do fine. I hope it succeeds since it looks like great quality seafood and steaks.

I did notice that Andersonville on the Website. I never considered that far north on Clark Andersonville, not ever sure what that area was called.

One sounds good, the other is purportedly insipid:

    From the Mount Prospect Journal
Mount Prospect Journal wrote:Mt. Prospect trustees approved two liquor licenses for new establishments at last week's village board meeting.
The first was for Sankalp Restaurant, formerly Quiznos, at 1014 S. Elmhurst Rd. near Golf Road. The license provides for the service of beer and wine at tables only for the "Southern Indian fast food" restaurant.

The owner of Sankalp, Chetan Patel, currently owns several Subway restaurants. The tenant space spans 1,600 sq. ft. and will encompass an estimated 15 tables.
According to Director of Community Development for the village of Mt. Prospect Bill Cooney, the restaurant is completing interior build out and should be open within the next few weeks.
Patel said he is expecting to open by mid-March. He added this is a franchise in India and would be the first of its kind in Illinois and third in the United States.
The second license is for the Pei Wei Asian Diner that will operate on the same site as the new Randhurst Village lifestyle center. This license is also for beer and wine at tables only.
Pei Wei is a national restaurant chain owned by P.F. Chang's. This location will be one of three locations in Illinois.

I hadn't realized that Pei Wei was owned by P.F. Chang's. So they're taking dumbed-down Chinese food and dumbing it down to "Asian Diner" levels.
If they dilute authentic Chinese flavors a couple more steps, we'll have Homeopathic Cuisine.

On the other hand, Sankalp is southern Indian, would be nice to see out here in culinary wasteland-ville[sic]

Signs are up for grand opening of Mariscos el Caribe where Las Delicias used to be on Montrose. No indication as to type of Hispanic seafood from signage when I drove by about 6 pm today. I do not know whether they are not truly open yet or are just closed on Mondays. Last week there was a sign for grand opening that did not indicate grand opening of what. Driving by the dining room looks the same as when Las Delicias was there.

Brothers Beef at 732 W. Armitage (formerly Doggie Diner) opened yesterday.

Caminito Argentinian Grill opened about a month or so ago at 1629 N. Halsted. It's below street level and very easy miss while driving, I only noticed it recently when I was walking up Halsted toward the also recently opened Taco Joint (1969 N. Halsted, a place that's quickly become a regular stop for me!). A flyer I found outside my home this morning focuses on pasta and Argentinian pizza but their on-line menu shows more options.

I always thought that too, but some of the neighborhood maps appear to have Rogers Park going up to Peterson west of Ridge (West Rogers Park) and Devon east of Ridge (East Rogers Park).

Officially the community is West Ridge, not West Rogers Park. West Ridge's southern boundary is Peterson between Ravenswood and Western and goes south to Bryn Mawr from Western to the North Shore Channel. Official community map is linked.
