Encouraged by the positive response at the Hideout's Soup Night, I entered my recipe for Spicy Bacon and Tomato soup into the Baconfest Nueske Bacon recipe challenge. Hopefully my fellow LTH'ers will support my entry--if you tried the soup and liked it (or just think the recipe sounds good!!), go here http://baconfestchicago.com/nueskes-amateur-cookoff-contestant-roster-please-vote to vote or here http://baconfestchicago.com/jennifer-berman-spicy-bacon-and-tomato-soup and write in a comment. Top 5 entries get 2 free tix which means I will have an extra (no bribery or anything!!) if my recipe is selected.

thanks in advance for any help you wish to provide :P

p.s. And thanks to David Hammond for allowing me to use his kind words as a testimonial!!

Ok people---just checked my competition and it's not looking good!! There are clearly some folks who are off to a strong start in "getting out the vote" --early and often! Let's do the Chicago machine proud and support an LTH sister. The powers that bacon are taking comments until Friday. http://baconfestchicago.com/jennifer-berman-spicy-bacon-and-tomato-soup

    Interesting comment on the website...

Looks like you have more comments than votes. Maybe good to link people to the ballot page as well as the comment page.

Wow--didn't even see this--they just said that people would comment and that the judges pick the winners...interesting. thanks Kenny!!

And that bizarre comment was from a friend actually...go figure.

In case it's confusing to anyone else (it was to me), you can apparently vote now for who you want to be selected to enter the contest at Baconfest!!!

    All votes appreciated :D
I'd be honored to bring home the proverbial bacon on behalf of LTH!!

Apparently, there's a glitch with the link so that users of Internet Explorer 8 can't see it without enabling Compatibility View--other options are to use a different browser (chrome, foxfire, safari, etc.). Kind of a bummer but if you tried to vote before and couldn't, you could give it another shot with the above suggestions to assist. I'm definitely lagging behind a bit so any help would be appreciated!

    My vote has been cast!
I loved the quote from Mr. Hammond:
"Unfortunately, I believe every bowl of tomato soup I have henceforth, no matter how good, will seem vapid by comparison. The excellent is the enemy of the good."

    Best of luck!

thanks Janeyb and everyone who voted! I finished in the top 10 in votes--now we have to see who the committee selects (voting was only one factor in their selection decision).

Fingers crossed!! I'll let you all know if I make it to the next round.
