I don't think it will be that bad. I suspect, you will be able to park, bring your things in and then take your permit. Permits aren't in effect until 6 pm.

    Hi all,

Wasn't sure about cooking for the dessert exchange the day after the Cajun exchange, but I would love to come if there's still room. Plus, Ava, I want to meet your pup. Hope I can see everyone this weekend.

    Okay All,

This is funny. I'm hosting the Dessert Exchange During the Baha'i 19 Day Fast. Don't worry, I get to eat & drink, but not until sunset.

I'm betting Cookie Monster brings Paczki, but I'm curious if anyone out there was contemplating a King Cake or Pralines since this exchange falls on the cusp of Mardi Gras?

I know Pie Lady will be bringing a bacon bourbon lemon bar

Looks like the url for the piece to read requires a NY Times ID-- it's free if you don't have it already.

Here's the actual link, perhaps you can get it that way

Pralines it is, madam. First time making them. My teeth hurt already. I may mess with the recipe a little. Wish me luck. And skill. izzy
PS How about a little chocolate, on some of them? Very dark chocolate? Oui, or non?

I'm actually just bringing Mardi Gras Lemon Bars; I thought Eli might do the bourbon/bacon version? And I planned on dressing mine up with green, yellow and purple edible glitter like a Mardi Gras whore.

I've been pondering what to bring - Mardi Gras inspired or St. Patrick's Day inspired. I had thought about a King's Cake, but Cathy was going to bring one. She isn't coming now, so if everyone would like, I can make a King's Cake. The other options I was considering:

    Glazed Irish Tea Cake
Lemon Icebox Pie (from a restaurant in New Orleans) - This one is actually out of contention because of Pie Lady's lemon bars
    Cinnamon Biscuit Peach Cobbler

    A vote anyone?
    Ms. Ingie
Life is too short, why skip dessert?

Pie is never out of contention. And anyway, my bars are more cakelike if I recall correctly.

I'll have to begin my Make More Pie mission next week...cherry, then mango, then lemon lavender and something chocolate, all between Monday and the next exchange.

Honestly, I never had a King Cake and I'm not sure what it is. I'd be glad to try either one.

King's Cake is a sweet bread with a glaze and tri-color sugar.

And a baby or some other feve inside. The person who gets the feve/baby gets to bring the next King Cake.

She pm'd me she wouldn't be coming earlier in the week, prior to Beans. That's why there was space for Laura S prior to Beans dropping out and elliecm coming in.

Sorry, I should have put it on the thread that jygach had bowed out when LauraS was added on March 2,2011-- let's call that on end of flu beginning of the Bahai Fast. :)
