This is more of a "not going," but after many months of rumors of a possible move, Sola is staying put.

A brief blurb from their website:

"After five years of success, I have decided to keep sola in the original north center location. I’ve grown to love the neighborhood and all our loyal guests."

Had to stop at the new Chicken Planet today, for their grand opening.

I got there at 1:15 -- there was a line outside the door. Lunch was as good as I remember from the original store, and I will be back again. They also offered punch cards for frequent customers at the new place only -- I will definitely be filling mine up and getting a free lunch in the near future.

Al's Italian Beef is opening a location in Wrigleyville sometime this month, according to Metromix. Their facebook page states that they are just waiting for final permits. I'm looking forward to bringing a couple beefs into Wrigley Field this summer.

Fish Bar opened yesterday next to DMK Burger Bar. Menu:http://www.fishbarchicago.com/Fish-Bar-Final-Menu.pdf

On their website, they appear to offer a real time, birds-eye web cam of the bar. I could see this being extremely useful to check if there's a wait.

They're not currently offering carry out but will in the future, according to the waitress. I'm happy that there will be another option for picking up food before a Cubs Game. Grabbing a lobster roll to bring into Wrigley Field sounds like a great start to an afternoon of baseball.

    Not so fast...

    From their Facebook page:
"Due to popular demand Earwax will re-open after a menu overhaul and cleaning tomorrow. Kurt Guzowski, formerly Executive Chef of Landmark Grill has spruced up the vegetarian and vegan-focused menu, keeping a few of the old favorites and adding some new dishes and ever-changing daily specials. You guys have convinced us to re-open, despite some difficulties, and to stick with the tried and true concept of the cafe."

I never understood the appeal of the faux Irish pub either, but they're all over this city, so I can see why adding scantily clad women to that tried and true formula would work.

I liked Chutney Joe's when it first opened but the quality has fallen off. Regardless of when I go I get the impression that the food's been sitting out a while. It's Indian food with a Chipotle format, so at the very least you'd expect freshness in the presentation but it's just too steam-table-y for my taste.
