I found some old wine glasses purchased in the nineteen seventies from Crate and Barrel. They are nice but they have a smaller bowl than we are accustomed to today. I am debating whether I should donate them or keep them. They might come in handy for parties but I'm wondering if they are so out of fashion. A penny for your thoughts.

    Toria,

Wine bowls are getting bigger every decade. We use our old Crate and Barrel glasses for apertifs, liqueur, port and dessert wines.

If people at a party you throw criticize your wine glasses, you should throw the wine at them.

Thanks everyone. I don't think they would be good for cocktails but I think I can keep them for wine on certain occasions. May be perfect for eiswein as its sweet and you don't drink a lot. Just to comment on the size, the bowl is round and classic and about the size of a tennis ball.

If you've got the space to keep them, another idea is to serve cocktail accompaniments (roasted nuts, goldfish, small crackers, whatever) in them.

    I'd use them for desserts.

Speaking of old wine glasses, anyone looking to buy some should check out the Green Lantern resale shop on N. Broadway. I can't find the exact address online. It's on the 6300 block, on the east side of the street. The shop is vast, and I've just begun exploring, but I've spotted some really neat wine and cocktail glasses. Also, E. and Richard who run the shop are very friendly and willing to negotiate prices.
