    Hey Folks,

Thanks to all that made it to our Crawfish Boil recently. PhilW will be bringing his hog cooker down on Saturday the 16th and we will be roasting a hog. With that we will smoke up 30 lbs of Uncle John's hot links, rib tips and some sides. Mac and cheese, pit beans, green bean salad with bacon vinaigrette, potato salad as well as slaw. Several sauces and a guaranteed good time! We will have an excellent bluesman Keith Scott performing from 4-7. So stop on by!! $20 get's you all you can eat as well as the first drink on the house. Hoping to see some new and old LTHer's...We are now adding a few special guests! G WIV is bringing his WSM down and doing some lamb ribs for the crowd to sample, also DaBeef will be making Texas Armadillo eggs and Philw's friend Chef Sven the Swedish chef from the LIttle red Smokehouse is bring a Vertical Smoker and doing a fresh ham! This will be feast for the ages and you will leave smiling and full!

Sounds like the perfect hangover cure for WhiskeyFest, which is taking place the night before. I'll be there, probably with a few family members in tow. Really looking forward to it! :)

Then I may make it for the camaraderie. I heard there was a great mushroom soup on the menu at the start of March Madness & I was very happy with my Boca Burger & all of the toppings + the onion rings.

Thanks Glenn, Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday. PhilW showed up this evening with the guest of honor and it is a 155 lb Beauty!! The prep is under way and we have 2 different batches of homemade pickles working, 3 different sauces as well as tons of bottles of commercial sauce we need to get rid of. Corn Bread is now on the menu as well. Going to be plenty of food and the only one outside will be the pig so come on over folks!!

Wow! What a fun afternoon, in spite of the ultra-crappy weather. I listened to some great live music, enjoyed several beers I'd never tried before (A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale, Sierra Nevada Glissade Golden Bock), sucked down a few signature pineapple shots, chatted with what seemed like 2-dozen fellow LTHers (some of whom I'd never met before...nice to meet you! :)) and stuffed my face with a all sorts of delicious bbq and side dishery (whole pig, ham, sausage, lamb ribs, armadillo eggs, pit beans, mac & cheese, pickles, green beans, etc). I think we spent about 4 1/2 hours at Toons and it just flew by. The only thing that could have made it better was today's sunshine. Oh well; nothing anyone could do about that.

Thanks, Danny, Annie, Kevin, Tommy and everyone at Toons, for hosting such an enjoyable event.

Had a great time seeing everyone, met a few new people, ate some fantastic food! The roast pig, the lamb ribs, the meatball-looking things--were those the armadillo eggs? tell me more about them DaBeef!--some of the best pickles I've had, and some rib tips fresh out of the smoker that blew me away, far after I'd already had too much to eat, but I couldn't help eating a few. And so many other great things. Not to mention good beer and even a pineapple shot, which was delicious. And I managed to remember to bring my (smudged, greasy, and well-loved) copy of Low & Slow to get it personalized. :)

    Thanks to everyone involved!

    Thanks, Danny.
    I was thoroughly entertained.
It was nice to meet Gary and give jimsw a bit of a hard time. Sorry I missed you Ms. BouD, Ronnie and, no doubt, so many others. There will be a next time. It was nice to make a bunch of new friends.
I, also, am curious about the meatballs--they were great--nicely spiced and woke my mouth up. More info?

Great spread as always--Toons handles both the little details (nice pickles!) and the big (152 lbs of PIG!!!!!) exceptionally well. And kudos to the special guest chefs who contributed--Sven's succulent ham, GWiv's perfectly rubbed and juicy lamb ribs, DaBeef's spicy balls--for those of you reading this who didn't make it, you won't want to miss the next one. Thanks Annie and Danny for another great Toon afternoon!
