I'm hosting a Hush Supper Club dinner at my house in the Lake Forest area on Friday April 8th at 7:00.

It will consist of a 5 course vegetarian Indian meal with some storytelling about the food. We will have wine/cocktails too. The house is very elegant and it should be a fun evening. I'd like to see some LTHers there.

    HI,

I read about the owner was raised Jain. Are her meals prepared to Jain sensibilities?

Cathy - I'm not 100% sure. I do know the meals are vegetarian, but I also know that they are preparing a cocktail and we will serve wine, so I would say the meal has Jain influences. I could find out more if you are interested.

    This sounds lovely.

I have to double check whether I have a car, but if so I hope to be there.

I'm about 3 miles from the Metra train station (west Lake Forest - Milwaukee District North line). I can arrange a ride for you to and from my house if you decide to take the train.

    HI,

That liquor is permitted, it is not a Jains dinner.

Jains are the vegetarians of vegetarians. They won't eat anything that may promote life. Anything fruit or vegetable with seeds, root vegetables like garlic and onions are not permitted. Some wear veils to prevent any possibility of breathing in an insect. Some will sweep the path in front of them to assure they don't step on any living being.

I'll be interested in a report from anyone who attends.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Matt my husband signed me up this morning.

    I haven't gotten a confirmation email.

Is there anything else I need to do at this point?

    I'm looking forward to it.

I will also have a car.

My husband won't be there (trout fishing) but as soon as he read this thread this morning he signed me up.

    Thanks for posting here Matt!
