    Hi All,

Someone from rec.food.cooking directed me to here. I'm planning on a 3-day stay in Chicago as I make my way across the States. Really into my food - so much so that it's the main point of the trip and I want to be well-planned when I arrive! Will be there mid-May.

Hoping you guys can help me maximise my trip with some suggestions. I'm not a huge breakfast person (what?! I hear you all gasp collectively) - but plan on having really good lunches (Michelin star considered!!) and more down-to-earth dinners with a beer or two.

Any pointers here towards some of the more high-end places where I might get a good set lunch at a fair price. In the evenings I'll be looking more for homely stuff - well made pastas, BBQ, steak, oriental, regional specialties etc. - for what it's worth I am a particular like of oriental dumplings so any local favourite places would be appreciated.

    Many thanks!
    Richard

I guess I should classify my costs too:

    Lunches - $30-$40
    Dinners - $20-$30

    Cheers

    Richard,

Check out the Great Neighborhood Restaurants list. That's a good starting point. The GNRs are some of the board's favorite places.

Edited to correct the link to the GNR List

Not to make your effort even more complicated, but it's worth noting that the link Steve provided is just to the newest crop of GNR's. The complete list is here.

No. That map contains the complete list including the brand new ones.

I was referring to the list you provided in this thread's third post, not the map.

Oh. My bad. I've fixed the link in that post to point to the correct list.
