Incite, outstanding pix. We had some pleasant bites at Roy's, and your shots make the memory more tasty.

We went to Roy's on our Hawaiian honeymoon in 2003. We went to the one in Kihei (which is sadly not a currently listed location) and the one in Koloa. We then went to the one in Chicago, Las Vegas and Honolulu. We asked for a tasting menu in Chicago, they created one for us and while I haven't been to a lot of the upscale (Moto, Alinea, Tru, Trotters, etc...) places mentioned here, I have to say it was one of the top 3 meals I have ever had in my life. It was delicious.

Unfortunately, it was so long ago, I can't recall details or even who the chef was to know if it is the same today. I was only starting to cultivate my fine dining palate (and budget!) back then. The tasting menu in Kihei is what prompted us to go again, and again. It was phenomenal.

Vegas we did mostly sushi, so that is a little different. Most recent was Honolulu - the one off the Waikiki strip - and I felt it was simply an outpost, trying to live up to the name, but not caring too much. Much the same I feel about Morton's (Schaumburg) and Ruth's Chris (South Barrington). Living off the name and reputation without actually keeping up the standards of the original. But I would go back to Chicago again, especially based on the pictures presented! Great review and wonderful pics!
