It looks like another new BBQ joint has sprung open. There was one here before called Blanche's Frontier Inc. and from the sounds of it they were only open on the weekend. I never had a chance to get to Blanche's. I was thinking of going this weekend and when I called the number the guy on the other end told me about the new owners and gave me the new #. I will have to make plans to get there soon with cam in hand and report back!

We will be glad to see new and old faces at Cole's Family B.B.Q. We used to go to Blanches when we were dated. We're very proud for God's blessing.Who would have thought 27 years later, God would bless us to be owner's of this place. If you want home-style without having to cook it yourself, come to the right place: COLE'S FAMILY B.B.Q. 13500 S. CLAIRE ROBBINS,IL

I didn't know where Robbins was before searching for it, but I find it's within the radius of my South Side Irish Adventure, so I'll check it out.

Nice photos, that old school brick pit looks cool full of the spares, tips and sausage!
Can you biggy size that menu pic a bit?
How long has that place been around? I know it switched names a few times.

We've been in business for 5 months now. I can't seem to get the menu pic to be clear when I enlarge it. But I will keep trying, my daughter is a computer wiz. We are thinking about going back to the hours of noon to 10 and noon to 12am for the summer.

On Saturday I decided to try a head-to-head comparison between Cole's and another new BBQ place in Robbins down the street. I got a tip-link combo from Cole's and headed down Claire to "Bobby's Smoke Shack" where I asked if they did a tip-link combo and was told by the very young girl (12-ish?) behind the bulletproof glass "Yes but we don't have any cooks here right now." So I thanked her and left.

Thus, in my head-to-head comparison of these 2 places, Cole's wins, because I was able to get food there.

Unfortunately, the food was a mixed bag. The links were terribly overcooked and only partially edible. There were some great bites on the tips but only a couple of items that were recognizably rib tips made it into the boat. The rest was just scattered pieces of meat and fat. Which were tasty, but not exactly what I expect when I order tips.

Of course, this was around 2pm on a Saturday, and BBQ is of course variable, and it might not have been the best time to try the place. I'll give them another shot, and hopefully be able to get some food at the other place too next time.
Ronnie said I should probably tell you guys about my website so

    Hey I have a website.

I did see that other joint down the street, Bobbys smoke shack. Looked like there use to be a place there years back...they had a tall stack on the roof already. I have not been to either place yet. Been chilling with eating and cooking BBQ meats the past few months. I do have a taste for some good smoked chicken but I don't think Cole's does that according from there menu. There is another newer place called Hawk I's bbq in Posen near corner of 147th and Kedzie I spotted a few weeks back.
That's getting close to Exsenators turf.....and ya can never really go wrong there.
