Continuing my search for a suitable all purpose menu restaurant for a group of about 15-20 on a Sunday around 3pm post grave unveiling in North Riverside...

Any opinions on Yia Yias? Connies or a place Im having trouble finding ....Jelly Jams?

I know of a number of good Czech/Polish places around but time of day and limited scope of menu causing me to widen my search.

Yia Yia's and Connie's are classic Greek coffee shops. 8 page menu, steaks to pancakes. I don't know the group, but it wouldn't be my idea of a place for a family gathering.

That's a tough spot. Jimmy's Place in Forest Park is good for Italian. Don't know if they are open at 3PM though.

I have not been there myself, but I wonder if Caffe De Luca in Forest Park would work for your group?

I'm not sure if Jelly Jams is open yet. Just a hunch.
Connies is a solid Greek Diner, but the last time I went, they had prewrapped food service breads for the bread basket offering. I think I was there last one year ago. I like their pancakes, and the turkey is real.

You might want to check on Robert Nava's (of Depot Diner fame) new venture which is a few blocks E of Connie's. Not sure what their deal is on Sundays, but they have a varied menu - steaks, seafood, pasta, sammiches, and a full bar. Search for Olive Or Twist in Berwyn.
We cannot be friends if you do not know the difference between Mayo and Miracle Whip.

I can recommend The Chew Chew on Burlington in Riverside. They have very good food and they had no trouble accommodating our party of fourteen.

Thanks, looks like Olive and Twist not open on Sunday. Chew Chew I had seen but seems closed the one hour (3-4) we would be showing up, also possibly too expensive for what we are looking for. Were thinking people would be more doing a coffee/and thing and not necessarily an entire meal.

I think Yia Yia's would be pretty good for your purpose. It is extremely busy on Sunday mornings, but should be quieter by 3 pm. Would call ahead to make sure they can reserve space to accommodate 14.

Connies has a party room which could keep you separate.

    How about Lalo's
    Lalo's Restaurant -
    www.lalos.com - 3011 Harlem Ave, Berwyn

The one in oak park is not good but the one Berwyn could service a big group. Sometimes they have live music.

Re: Yia Yia's vs. Connie's: I prefer Connie's over Yia Yia's because I think Connie's is the better place in terms of value and food quality, plus, for your purposes, they have a party room available. I don't know if they charge for the use of the room, but a phone call would settle that.
