    Hi All-

I live in Logan Square, but will be heading to the north suburbs for Easter tomorrow.

Since it is right on the way, I thought I would stop by NY Bagel & Bialy for some...you guessed it...bagels and bialys.

My family would also like some doughnuts to go along with the bagels. I'm not too familiar with the area around NY B&B - is there anything nearby (I'm okay driving 10-15 min out of the way) that you would recommend for doughnuts?

I don't need anything fancy, just something better than Dunkin' Donuts and I'd rather not make two dedicated stops off the highway if possible.

Any thoughts? Bonus points if it is NOTABLY better than Dunkin' Donuts :D

    Thanks!

My office is close to there, Schlegl's is the best place but they are closed on Sunday. Not sure if Sweety Pies in Skokie will be open and I have only had cupcakes and banana nut bread from there so not sure what the donuts might be like if they have them.

Depending on where you are, your best bet from Logan Square might be a quick trip over to Roeser's before you get on the expressway, their Facebook page seems to indicate they will be open at 6am. Makes me think about driving over there tomorrow for some cinnamon twists, long johns and bismarcks.

This is probably too late for the OP - but NYBB carries baked goods from other bakeries.

    Not too late! Haha!

But, I am very skeptical about NYC BB's other baked goods. Everything else I have tried as been really subpar.

    Thanks for the suggestions folks!

So I ended up going to NY B&B, they do not have doughnuts - but like I said, in general their baked goods are pretty sad looking so I didn't expect anything.

I decided to go with Lee Donut in Libertyville - an old standby that I forgot about. Being in Libertyville (my destination) made it very convenient.

Not to mention, they have some KILLER donuts. Everything is made fresh on sight - the cake donuts have a nice crisp outside with a moist interior, and the glazed are light as a feather. And, at well under $1.00 each (my threshold for reasonable donut cost) the total cost of 8 with tax was just over $5.00

I guess I didn't really follow through with what I was asking for, but man was I pleased with my purchase.
