How about we just stick to nice photos and leave the social commentary to the political forums?

Powerful picture indeed. It definitely puts me in check when I sometimes complain or get irritated about food and/or service problems, when in fact I ought to be grateful to have food on my plate in the first place. Thanks for posting that, David.

This photo hit me like a jolt. It's not a pretty picture, but it is clearly about food, and it says something us and our place, our precarious place on the food chain. It's horrific, no doubt, but that's a superficial reaction. After the jolt, I considered, What did the photographer do after he snapped this shot? Did he help this young person? Shoo away the carrion bird? Walk away and develop his print? Maybe there's nothing one could do. Maybe there's a lot. Aside from the remarkable composition of the shot, raising questions like that is a function of art that goes beyond the merely eye-pleasing.

Sure but why are you posting this here on a food board?
We talk about cheeseburgers and $500 meals here.
    Why are you doing this?

Do you want people to add these kind of photos to all kinds of posts here?

To celebrate our first ramps of the season we had a little bit of a ramp feast Saturday. Pictured below are charred ramps bread and butter, pickled ramps, ramp and potato soup, and perciatelli with ramps. Not pictured (but very good) grilled chicken with ramp and pistachio pesto. The ramps came from the Dane County farmers market, and a friend of a friend gifted some that he foraged.

Wild onions and a piece of molten debris, perhaps from the Great Fire of 1871 (Oak Park was a dumping ground after that conflagration), that I discovered in a corner of my garden today.

I hope that was a sign on a window and not the top of a pizza box--because then you'd have to explain to us why you were even in possession of a Sarpino's pizza. :)

It was on the Ridgeland El platform and I agree with your tacit position: with Sarpino's, what the hell would I expect?!

With some "food styling" I've seen in print and on television, it amazes me that even with the wonders of digital technology, they can't make the food look appetizing (case in point: Golden Corral TV spots, where nothing looks real or edible). With this ad, it's not that the graphics are bad but that the concept is so misguided as to be, to me, ludicrous (even for Sarpino's).

Or maybe I spend too much time on El platforms...

Seafood pizza from Da Mamo in Venice, Italy. A friend had just dined there and marveled about this pizza so I looked it up on their website and just stared at it for awhile, lol Does anyone in the Chicagoland area serve a pizza similar to this?
