I felt the same way after finally eating at a Sonic. Utility grade to me, but to some others, fine ass food apparently.

Dropped by the Aurora Chick-Fil-A tonight around 9:15 PM for a snack. There were so many cars leaving I thought maybe the stores had closed and people were leaving the center. Nope, they were coming and going from Chick-Fil-A! The large parking lot was full and so was the restaurant, so I got in one of the two drive-thru lines. The affable manager was outside handing out menu's, said it had been like this since the opening.
Since I always double my order in a long line, I had two perfectly cooked original chicken sandwiches, moist and piping hot. Served with just a pickle slice. The waffle fries are the best frozen potato product served in my opinion, they have a really good potato flavor that comes thru the middle somehow. If you must use a sauce, the original is crazy good.
I guess if you don't like fried chicken sandwiches Chik-Fil-A is not the place for you. I choked down one of the grilled chicken sandwiches on a whole grain bun once, too healthy!
There is only one better chicken sandwich and that is the chicken biscuit breakfast sandwich...

I must admit that I'm a huge fan of the Hardee's breakfast chicken biscuit, and would put my vote for it as the best chicken biscuit breakfast sandwich sold by a chain.

As far as not understanding Chick-fil-a, I can't quite explain it, except to say that it's probably been a decade since I ate at a McDonalds, Burger King or Taco Bell, but I'll jump at the chance to eat Chick-fil-a (or Hardee's... I'm a fried chicken slut).

I think they're still too busy. I remember eating at Chick-Fil-A when I worked at a mall in Dallas. There was a restaurant in the mall, and the chicken was crispy, hot and delicious.

I went to the one in Aurora this morning and got a chicken biscuit for breakfast. The chicken was spicy and had a nice flavor, but the biscuit broke all over me, and the chicken wasn't as crispy as I would like. On the plus side, the biscuit did seem to be buttered.

I'll wait until the hullabaloo settles down, and I can go and get something that is prepared more a la minute, shall we say?

I lived in Atlanta for a couple years before I moved to Chicago and I always hated Chic-fil-a. Not sure what the fascination is with the place, I remember it being greasy chicken on a biscuit... And their waffle fries were awful.. We had one in my college cafeteria and then I moved into an apt and there was one on my corner.. Never ate there again after the first one or two times I tried it.

I, too, went to college in Atlanta and had one in the campus food court. Was nothing special since they sat in warming slots and got cold/sogy, although I did love the chicken biscuits for breakfast. However, when I discovered the off-campus ones once I had a car, it was an entirely different story. Hot, crispy sandwiches made a huge difference! Once I graduated and moved into an apartment, I had one on the corner near my apartment and also one across the street from my office. That's when I became hooked. But I can't tell you how many times I ran over to grab lunch before settling in to watch football only to be reminded in the parking lot they're closed on Sunday. D'oh!

Ahh Emory. Nah, I went to GSU and UWG. I lived off of Briarcliff and North Druid Hills rd though and there was a Chic-fil-a right at the intersection of North Druid Hills and Briarcliff.. I think I found it to be acceptable but not as good as people made it out to be.. Of course I'll try it again when it gets here though.. Now, if it were Waffle House, then that's a whole other story cuz I'd be all over that

That's the same intersection I lived near for the two years I stayed in Atlanta after college.

And agreed on the Waffle House! That's other Southern institution I wish would make it up this way this far North... miss my scattered, smothered, covered and chunked hash browns.

Hah! I loved my hash browns smothered and covered and my waffle extra crisp and browned.. I moved here in 05 but went back for a quick visit in 07 and had to hid up the waffle house.. That has got to be the best waffle ever! *drools* just thinking about it..

That apartment on briarcliff we lived in was a DUMP.. I'm talking roaches everywhere, it was awful.. I eventually got out of that lease and moved to midtown at gables cityscape which I was actually quite happy with until I moved to Chicago.

Had Chik-fil-A while I was in Knoxville a couple of weeks ago. I find that I actually prefer the tenders to the sandwich by a small amount. I'm looking forward to having them come to Chicago, but realistically like Sonic (where my favorite non-beverage item is the $1 grilled cheese sandwich) it'll be at most a 3-4x/year indulgence.

The biscuit you had was a bad one. It shouldn't be crumbling. Usually the biscuit is moist, dense, and buttery.

Orland Park is doing the chicken dance

More than 80 people had lined up early Wednesday afternoon in advance of the opening of the Southland’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant. The doors open Thursday morning.

The parking lot at the Orland Park restaurant, 15605 S. LaGrange Road, looked like a tent city Wednesday morning as fans of the chicken sandwich specialist gathered in hopes of being among the 100 people who win a free weekly combo for a year.

The sign in front of the Wheaton location says they are opening Nov. 11. It's on Butterfield Rd (Rt. 56) just east of the intersection of Butterfield & Naperville Rd.

I happened to driving by the Wheaton store and there were a bunch of weirdos sleeping in tents as if they were tailgating the grateful dead. Is this part of some bizarre marketing strategy or are people that needy of chicken sandwiches?

A co-worker was talking about this. She said that the first 50 people get a prize: one year's worth of free chick fil a!

There's a new Walgreen's opening around the corner. Knowing that the Chik-Fil-A is going to be jammed, I think we're going to sleep out and be the first people into the new Walgreens.

I so don't get the hype over this sandwich. We stopped in Wheaton and they were giving them away as they hadn't opened yet. It wasn't bad, maybe a bit boring.

I feel that it used to be better when I lived in TX. Whether it was new and different, actually better, or my palate was different I am unsure. However, it just is not as good IMO anymore.

I wasn't aware of this but when I drove through Schaumburg the other day, I noticed that a Chic-Fil-A is being build their also.

I noticed a coming soon sign the other day walking around River North. I can't remember the intersection, maybe Wabash & Chicago (Northwest corner)

You're correct in the location. This was mentioned in this thread on a previous page. Never having tried Chick-Fil-A, it will be nice to have the option close to my office.

In my opinion being a bit boring is all the sandwiches have going for them. Reason i like a chick-fil-a is that it's so simple. I like the subtle spicy breading, soft bun and a couple slices of pickle. Makes for a great boring sandwich. Add anything else, i.e. ketchup or mustard, and in my opinion it's ruined. As embarassed as i am to admit it, i often find myself defending chick-fil-a against my friends who are vehemently anti-christian-fast-food... It's the only fast food i can recall defending the quality of. It's my guilty pleasure for sure.

I don't know how true it is, and I also don't want to derail the thread to a non-food topic. Chick-fil-a (at least used to) play only christian music, hand out christian pamphlets, and give christian learning materials in the kids meals. Within their rights? I don't know, probably, but i see how it could offend some people. However, I think the hard feelings have more to do with their alleged stance against gay marriage. If we want to continue this topic, we should probably have these posts moved to a new forum, since it's not food related.
