There is signage on Wasbash, I think between Madison and Monroe, for a branch of the Tilted Kilt:
    http://www.tiltedkilt.com/

I'm sure the focus will be on innovative, locally sourced food.

Man, you should warn people that the website is painfully loud, from both an audio and visual standpoint. I don't think there is a way to turn off the sound either (not recommended for secret workplace surfing).

Yeah, websites that automatically play music and have no on/off setting should be permanently flushed from the tubes of the interweb.

However, the Irish theme is amazingly authentic. Why, just reading the menu transported me to the green hills of Co. Wicklow: chicken fingers, lasagna, burgers, wings, build-your-own pizza, quesadillas...can't you hear the bodhrán and fiddle?

Honestly, the loop can use more bars. Every bar we go to after work is completely packed, to the point where it can be tough to get a beer from the bar or find a place to stand. From the menu it seems tilted kilt will carry rogue dead guy and boddington's on tap as well as some others which are up in the air. It could end up being a decent spot to hang out, though I doubt a culinary destination.

Here's the address for anyone that doesn't want to open the obnoxious website.
    17 North Wabash
    Chicago, IL

We'll have to wait and see, looks like another Elephant and Castle type chain (which is a few blocks away) . Always looking for a place to grab a beer that is a little less expensive than the Gage, and a little nicer than Exchequer.

I work virtually across the street from where Twisted Kilt will be located, and I agree that there is a definite lack of good places to drink in the immediate area. Although not technically in "the Loop," I tend to head to Printer's Row for an after work beer. There are quite a few decent bars there. Hackney's and Kasey's are both good spots. Another newer place that actually has a fairly excellent beer selection is Villains on Clark between Harrison and Polk.

Saw chalkboard outside, followed upstairs, thought I would have a salad for lunch and check the place out. Got to the top of the steps and it was packed, packed, packed, line out the door. Escalator right back down.

Made it in today. I can tell you right now that Jman has no idea what he ate in there for lunch fifteen minutes ago ( I remember though, fish and chips). Irish Hooters is an understatment. I was one of about three women in the 10,000 sq ft place.

The burger was a 10oz handmade patty cooked to order.

    That's all I got.

To whoever changed the thread title to Twisted Kilt, it's actually "Tilted Kilt."

With NRA show coming up, I get a lot of these press releases, but few so risible:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Terra Watson

    Email: terra@breastaurantuniforms.com

BREASTAURANTUNIFORMS.COM OFFERS NEW LINE OF SEXY WAITRESS UNIFORMS
New online ordering offers any restaurant the uniforms to make them an instant Breastaurant

Former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and uniform designer, Terra Watson who also designs uniforms for NFL and NBA cheerleading teams, launches Breastaurantuniforms.com, an online store for sexy and functional server uniforms.

“I created this line with the waitresses and the customers in mind”, says Watson. “Breastaurants are big business. After years of creating uniforms, I know what makes the girls feel sexy and comfortable, and also what the customers like to see. Our uniforms cover what needs to be covered, but shows off the waitresses’ assets.”

At Breastaurantuniforms.com, the restaurant owner can order mix and match uniforms, with low minimums to create a custom look. This gives any bar or restaurant the ability to make a statement with their staff and become an instant Breastaurant. “Our Twin Peaks girls would not be the same if they just wore a T-shirt”, says Randy Dewitt, CEO of Twin Peaks Restaurants, which has grown to 11 locations in only 5 years. “The ‘sexy lumberjack’ look created by Breastaurant Uniforms gave us the look to base our entire concept on and essentially created our brand”.

BreastaurantUniforms.com website launches today and will be exhibiting at the NRA (National Restaurant Association) show in Chicago, at McCormick Place May 21-24, 2011 in booth 4262. They will feature a sexy model showing the entire new line.

BreastaurantUniforms.com boasts that it is "The Breast in the Business!"

I am SOOOO glad there will be more bars in the loop now. Especially as a female. I REALLY enjoy going out for a drink after work, in my male-dominated industry, to a place that makes me feel even more like a minority.

    Both.

Not really. If kilts are worn at all by Irish pipe bands, they are always solid colors. Kilts of tartan patterns are Scottish. Likewise - and contrary to popular belief - clans are a Scottish thing, not an Irish thing. If you ever see someone in Ireland wearing a Scottish tartan plaid kilt, he's wearing it only because he thinks that what the American tourists expect to see.

Not trying to pick a nit with you gleam; just arguing for someone to please, please, change the word Irish to Scottish in the thread title. Or better yet, change the title to just Tilted Kilt - why should we besmirch the Scottish either?

FWIW, they describe themselves as "Celtic-themed" (although the whole debate is really pointless for a place like this).

This is a picture of local Irish Pipe band "The Shannon Rovers" - they play everywhere around here, not just for tourists, and those kilts don't look solid color.

I do agree, though, that I'd definitely be happier - as I'm half Scottish - that The Tilted Kilt NOT be associated with Scotland.

Well I'm offended by someone's spelling of the words "whereever" (wherever) and "where" when they mean "wear".

Nice gams on the piper dude BTW. I'd buy a gin and tonic from him any day of the week.

    :)

I hear ya. A couple of blocks south on Wabash is Miller's Pub, an "old reliable" of mine when I go to concerts at Orchestra Hall or the Lyric. The food is palatable at least and often a cut better than that (the burgers are pretty good, and the ribs okay if you don't like 'em spicy), and the prices are moderate: higher than the Exchequer, but if you go at 4:45 or 5 p.m., you can snag a table away from the (noisy) bar. And the servers come in both genders -- I've never ever been treated any way but politely.

    :)

I was in the south suburbs on business a couple of weeks ago and had lunch at the Kilt on 95th. My expectations were low. But, the burger was actually really good. Thick, cooked to order, juicy and flavorful.

The menu is far from authentic. The hooters were much better than those at Hooters. I suspect the wings are too.
