I just found out a group of my friends is going to be in town this Friday (from out of town) and what I thought was a casual 4 person dinner has grown to 8-10 people.
We want a simple, casual place (not too expensive) in River North area for 8-10. I tried my standby Quartino, but they can't get us in till 9pm.
Anyone tried Rosebud Trattoria?
We just want a place where we can have a comfortable dinner with a group of extended friends. I'm sure someone has a hidden gem that I've forgotten about

Cafe Iberico, India House, Scoozi are decent options. Haven't eaten at Reza's recently, but that's an option. Haven't tried Rosebud Trattoria, but Rosebud Theater District is a regular dependable option for us with a group.
What's your price point for "not too expensive"? We like Zed451 for a group - the a la carte options aren't pricey, though the buffet is.

Kind of a more comfortable less frenetic version of Quartino (fewer smaller plates, better pizza and probably--altho I haven't done an extensive study, I just know La Madia puts a strong emphasis on it--a better wine list)."The fork with two prongs is in use in northern Europe. Post #7 - June 15th, 2011, 11:27 pmMadia does a nice Risotto each day as well and a tasty artichoke ... and wine suggestions have always been spot on.
Last time I was there with one guest they seated us at the pizza counter - and guests there get a complimentary glass of Prosecco - we had a very good time!
