They had a very brief stay in Naperville. I drove by the other week and noted the restaurant was no longer there. (They may have closed months ago and I just now notice.) I tried it once and never returned. The decor was nice, but seemed like it was designed for more of a breakfast place. I thought the menu selections weren't varied/ethnic enough and I predicted to my husband that this place would not be around for long...

    Hi,

Former location of Captain Porky's in Beach Park (nearly in Zion) will have a new tenant: Harm's Bar-B-Q. Herm's were previously in Waukegan and Antioch.

    Expected opening is August 1.

Burke's Public House on the corner of Broadway and Balmoral is now open. Hours four p.m. to 2 a.m. Menus posted on the window indicate a basic bar food menu. I'll have to try it out because it's only two blocks from Casa Trpt, and there is a dearth of decent bars east of Clark in Andersonville/Edgewater. Will report soon. Also Jin's Thai on the corner of Broadway and Catalpa has a sign saying Grand Opening in the window.

Libertad, moves into the old Sweety Pies bakery site at 7931 Lincoln Ave., Skokie. http://www.libertad7931.com/ - sign in the window says opening at the end of June. Based on me peeking in the door the other day - I don't think so.

"Skokie resident Marcos Rivera, the proprietor of the new Latin eatery, is the son of the founder of Las Palmas, a chain of Mexican restaurants in the Chicago area.

Rivera promised “global dining with a Latin twist” for the new restaurant. He has been manager of the flagship Las Palmas in Wicker Park in Chicago since 2002.

Although much of the cuisine will be based on foods from Central and South America, Rivera said ingredients will not be confined to one region."

Laurel Mediterranean Grill closed in April. Not traveling that part of Naperville often, I have no memories of anything else that had been there. I was sorry to see it close, the food was good with excellent service but the few times we went, we were the only people there each time.
