St. Louis' Del Taco in the Round Under Threat

Post #1 - June 29th, 2011, 5:17 pmIt's all over the news down here today: Del Taco, housed in an outstanding example of mid-century hubris, is to be demolished and strip-mallified, if its owner has his way. So sad. Perhaps some of the former St. Louisians on the board will want to post memories.
I have yet to go there. Tomorrow will be the day. Pics to follow. Here's a link to the story:

That is my old neighborhood. Personally, it is no great loss. It is one of the last parcels in the area between SLU and I-40 to be redeveloped.
It used to be one of the better St. Louis open drug markets.

Post #6 - July 1st, 2011, 4:40 pmFaster than you can say "Meigs Field," Del Taco has closed. Apparently the "Macho Taco" is no more; both locations closed simultaneously. Tried to go there today, but it closed yesterday. Actually, it was not the food I was interested in. If I can get a few snaps of the building's exterior, I will post them here.Man : I can't understand how a poet like you can eat that stuff.
