I went to Bun Mi Express on opening day last Friday and ordered the pork roll and two spring rolls. The bread was a straight forward French roll with a slight crust like all bahn mi. That's good. Although, my guess is that they do not use a starter dough because there was not any extra flavor to the finished product. Not bad by any means, but not a developed flavor either.
I also thought the sandwich ingredients were good, but average. Nothing overly flavored; middle of the road. In general, I prefer full flavored food.
The size of the sandwich was good, nice size for $4.85 and I will definitely go back again to try their other Vietnamese bahn mi choices, especially since the restaurant is much closer to me than Ba Le. The sandwiches are $1.50 more than at Ba Le or Nhu Lan, but they can probably get away with the price based on their location.
The spring rolls were average (I didn't detect any fresh mint leaves in the roll,) and the dipping sauce was quite bland. When I got home I added more peanut butter, sriracha sauce and soy sauce.
The interior of the restaurant is pleasant enough with room for a few tables.
I certainly hope the restaurant does well. It's a good addition to Boystown.

I think it reflects poorly upon the business, especially since they state that they want to roll out many more Bun Mi Express.
