Basic parameters: cheap, informal, good/interesting. No allergies or other exclusions.

Depending upon how adventurous your 10 year old is, very quick and tasty dinner is to be had at Armitage and Leavitt, at Bento Box, or Armitage and Western (basically), at Belly Shack.

I also like 90 Miles, which is kind of festive and could be fun with a 10-year-old. It's on Armitage, also near Western/Milwaukee.

Pequod's is at Webster and Clybourn (so about half a mile away) and is great. If you need it fast, I'd recommend calling in a dine-in order ahead of time.

There's also Choppers at 1659 N. Ashland. It's cheap and kid-friendly, and the burgers are decent for the price.

Nick's Pit Stop on Damen just north of Armitage is cheap, informal, and kid-friendly. Interesting? I guess not, but their chicken is pretty damn tasty. Their Albany Park outpost has not gotten glowing reviews here, but this original location has been consistently delivering quality chicken for well over a decade now. And there are always cops eating there, for whatever that's worth.
