I will be in Anchorage for a week in June with a car. Any must-eat places, seafood especially? Thanks.

I was there a few years ago and really enjoyed Simon & Seaforts (I think that was the name). If you go to Denali by all means go to The Perch. Nice play to stay and great meals!

Have fun, it's an amazing place. Buy mosquito repellent and a copy of The Mile Post if you'll be driving around the state. It truly is an invaluable guide.

Was just in Anchorage and Seward, don't have any names of places off hand, but I felt I couldn't go wrong with a place that served king crab or halibut. I wasn't disappointed. Also a very large number of Asian restaurants, I didn't expect that.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

Well, here's a solid thread bump.

The wife and I will be in Anchorage for a night later this week. Anyone have any more recent thoughts on places to eat? We want to keep it pretty casual as we'll be leaving on a cruise the next day.

I echo Simon and Seaforts, although the last time I was there was 2008. Mmmmm, halibut cheeks....

A couple years ago we had a fun meal at Humpy's. It's a local brewpub with good beer and food.

We grabbed a snack at Humpy's yesterday. Very cool place. Smoked salmon spread, crab nuggets, a local wheat bear, and a draft root beer really hit the spot after a 6.5 hour flight.

Also, we did dinner at Sack's Cafe. I'll post more when I have more time, but I would highly recommend it for something a little more creative than most places around here seem to be.
