I have always had a great experiences asking for advice through LTH.

The dilemma I have is I work evenings and my father - very picky about his Italian food- is in town. The places I thought he would love are to open for lunch such as A Tavola in Ukrainian Village.

Anywhere similar that serves a week day lunch menu?

    Thanks again!

In the same vicinity Via Carducci, Bella Notte, Club Lucky. I don't really know what picky to him means though.

Volare downtown below Michigan Ave is pretty good. Especially their grilled seafood plate. Very well done.

Cafe Spiaggia is open for lunch, and it's lovely. But are you looking specifically near Ukie Village?

No, location is not an issue as long as it is not very far west, north or south.

I'll second a rec for Davanti...had a great dinner there recently. If you want to read about it and see some pix, you can look here.

Piccolo Sogno has very good food and one of the nicest outdoor eating areas in the city, as well as an outstanding wine list. It is located at the southwest corner of Halsted and Grand. here's a link to their lunch menu: http://piccolosognorestaurant.com/menu/lunch/

I second the Cafe Spiaggia recommendation, and suggest you stay away from Terzo Piano, where I had lunch today. It was just as pricey as Cafe Spiaggia for lunch, but the food nowhere near as good.

Let's add Trattoria 10 to the mix. Probably not one of the best Italian in Chicago, but certainly one of the better examples in the Loop. Also, they care about lunch; reservations are occasionally even required.

And the one time I was at Sabatino's on a random weekday there was a decent crowd.
