plochman's mustard

plochman's 'kosciusko' mustard is my favorite, but i havent been able to find it recently. i could have sworn i've always bought it at jewel, but i 've been to 3 different jewels in the last couple of months and no sign of it. it tastes great, and it's local (manteno IL, i believe). has anyone seen it for sale in chicago??? thanks, justjoan

Thanks for bringing this mustard to my attention. One can never have too many mustards in the fridge. I 've never noticed this one but might have to order some.

evilronnie: i know they have an online store, but i'm hoping it'll turn up in chicago so i dont have to pay for shipping. i never shop at dominicks anymore, but i might have to look for it there.. i believe i first discovered plochman's mustards years ago at the stand up bar in the berghoff. and i was delighted to find out it's made in illinois. the kosciusko is called 'spicy', but it isn't particularly spicy-very cheap, but so delicious and smooth, i can almost eat it off a spoon.... if only i could find it. justjoan

Have you checked Lincolnwood Produce? They used to carry Plochman's mustard (probably still do, I just haven't looked in a while). Also, check Fresh Farms on Touhy. They constantly amaze me with the breadth of products they carry.

The best bet might be an independent market or small chain where slotting fees do not control what is on the shelves. For example, I have bought the Kosciusko version at A&G regularly including a few weeks ago.

Just saw it this morning at the new Mariano's Fresh Market at Western and Roscoe! It's on the top shelf of the section of Polish products.

I just got some at Fresh Farms in Niles today but don't look in the Mustard aisle, head for the Polish section.

If you ever get up here for a visit, Fresh Farms will amaze you. There's a Polish section, a Russian section, a Greek section, an Indian section, a Mexican section, an Italian section, a Jewish section and probably even more sections than I can remember at the moment; not to mention the bakery, juice bar, deli, fish, produce and meat departments.

My favorite discovery at Fresh Farms was Canadian-made Russian-style Sour Cream. Or maybe it was Canadian-style sour cream marketed to Russians.

Can't swear to it, but I thought I saw it at Paulina Market last time I was there. I'm always scanning the mustard shelf and love the Plochman's line. (Although I have a special liking for Westbrae's Dijon.)

I think you make a great point that often gets over looked.

In my opinion, this will eventually lead to growth of on-line retailers who send you what you want.

I had no idea Plochman's made Kosciuszko mustard. I've been eating that stuff most my life--it's my favorite versatile mustard. Anyhow, I last saw it at Brookhaven Market in Burr Ridge and Bobak's on Archer. Pretty much any Polish or Eastern European grocery should have it.

Yes. Definitely have it at Paulina IME.

Not in the City but Woodman's carries Plochman's in their condiment aisle. They have stores in North Aurora, Carpentersville and Rockford in Illinois.
