We finally went to try Tony Sacco's at Randhurst.

Not bad, decent value, but no threat compared to, say Coalfire.
Certainly beats the snot out of most chain thin-crust.

We had their Insalata de Casa -- romaine eggs, tomatoes, chickpeas, red onion. $8 plus $2 for added gorgonzola. Dressing kinda similar to Olive Garden, but less sweet. Huge salad -- more than enough for two as a side, certainly a huge meal for one; we took about 1/3 of it home.

We followed that with one of their signature pizzas, a Marco Polo, featuring artichoke, sun-dried tomatoes and chicken. It's listed as 12" but it filled the 14" tray (I double-checked with the server, making sure we didn't get the wrong one). It had some nice char on the bottom, but not thin enough or crisp enough to be spectacular (I may ask for it well done if I go again).

Only downside may be an upside for some: Service is FAST. The salad came out pretty quick, and the pizza just a couple minutes after that. 1000-degree ovens mean fast cooking, but I felt like we were rushed. For lunch, that might be nice, though.

Will I go back? There's a good chance. I don't have a burning need, but I'd certainly enjoy it. They could use a few gourmet ingredients, but as it is it's a good solid pizza place.

Tried this place a few weeks ago. I pretty much agree with everything you said. We had the Pizza Bianca, and everyone enjoyed it (including me, even though I'm not a huge fan of mounds of ricotta on my pizza). No revelations here, but a well done pie, and better than any of the other chains close by (and very reasonably priced).

You weren't kidding about the service. Seemed like the pizza came out almost immediately. We tried to take our time with it, but we were still done very quickly. Fortunately we came pretty late when business seemed a bit slow, so we didn't feel pressured to rush out afterwards. Maybe the trick is to order salad and appetizers first, and then order the pizza once you finish those, since they come out so fast.

For some reason, I also really want to try their sandwiches. Never had a coal-fired sandwich before, and some of the sandwiches look like they might be good. Definitely will be back.

Thanks for the review. I drove by here a few weeks ago and wanted to check it out sometime.
