Just me this year. I'll be bringing desserts: Lomonaco Sicilian Cookies and leaning toward a s'more tart, as long as it's not too hot to melt it.

    Thanks

Given the high ratio of desserts, I'm going to make a zucchini and ricotta galette instead of the s'more tart.

No longer plus one. Just me.

Since there are many desserts, and few condiments, I will swap out my dessert for a mostarda. Should go well with all the sausage. I'm thinking peach, but I will see what is available at the market this weekend.

For my side, I'm thinking a saute of okra, corn, and tomatoes dragged through the spices of the subcontinent. Or I might do ratatouille a la Kennyz. Again, I'll let the markets decide.

    HI,

helen and felix will attend with a Filippino Fruit salad.

    On behalf of myself +3:
    - Bag of corn (60 ears) - if someone wants to buy (and help cook) an additional bag for the picnic (~$20), I can pick it. Driving out to Van Bergens on Saturday morning.
    - Heirloom tomato salad (this might become Shopska salad) - from my favorite hippie farmer
    - Booyah and Depression 8-cent meal - if I still have any
    - Black Rice with Green Soybeans (rice logs) - I have all the ingredients leftover from Elizabeth Andoh's talk last fall.

I might make a plum cake, too.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

OK, new totals - everybody go to the Google Doc and check if your information is right. PM me if something is wrong on the spreadsheet - but you can also post new items, changes, etc. here in the thread.

I can't add cells to the spreadsheet, so if you added people or food items after your initial reservation, they will appear in the order that they showed up on the thread...so some of your people/stuff might be at the end of the list. You may need to scroll sideways to find your nametag.

Please note: if you want a printed tag for your food, make sure Cathy2 is notified. I'm adding what you post to the spreadsheet, but she will be doing the final printing. Deadline is Saturday.

I'll bring appetizers—a Bosnian dried beef sampler plate. It will include suva govedina (dry beef), goveda slanina (cured beef bacon) and dimljeni govedi vrat (smoke-dried beef neck). Accompaniments will be kačkavalj (sheep's milk cheese) and fefferoni (pickled peppers). Hopefully a few more items, but that's what I've rounded up already.

i just met jennifer, 'the mustard girl', at costco. she's selling her mustards on one of costco's road trips. which means she has a table set up, and is selling them 3/$12 and when it ends, they'll be gone. i'm very happy to report that she has donated a set of mustards for our picnic on sunday. they are in the squirtable jars- made in wisconsin. she gave me dijon, sweet& spicy, stone ground and her plain yellow, which is very delicious and smooth. they'll go very well with all the amazing sausages (and reneG's dried sausage assortment) i'm expecting to see and taste on sunday. cant wait! joan

    Hi,

Just received from Hammond the supplies he faithfully kept at his place:

200 8" clam shell carryout containers
    1,000 moist toilettes
250 (approx) 12 oz. paper cups
240 (approx) complete plastic place settings: knifes, forks, spoons
    150 clear plastic cups
    150 translucent plastic cups
    50 30 gal. trashbags

    Tablecloths volunteered: 15

mbh is bringing: 1080 Costco napkins and 2 packages of paper plates that are 225 each, so 450.

Maybe those bringing supplies already could advise how much, then we can identify any holes.

    Thanks!

    Regards,
    Cathy

I've finalized my dish, it will be Beef and Burnt Tomato Bruschetta w/Chimichurri.

I have a couple people using my grill for heating, but still have slots open for those who need a grill. PM me if you're interested in reserving it for a specific time. It's a big barrel grill and will have a mix of lump and wood fire going in it.

Well, they were open today and I picked up a few items for the 'secret-special' ham roll-ups. Also, Jim Graziano very kindly gave me a couple other items that he wanted to bring to the picnic himself. Unfortunately, he can't make it but what he handed off is very special and I promise not to touch it between now and Sunday. :D

Again, a reminder: hot foods hot (hot packs, coolers) cold foods cold (ice packs, coolers) and make sure you have everything you need to serve your food! Also, some kind of cover to keep off bugs (thanks for the reminder, Joan) even if it's just plastic wrap. See you Sunday!
