Smallish, less chaotic, kid-friendly Chinatown place?

The mother-in-law, brother-in-law, his wife, and their three-year-old daughter are in town, and want to go somewhere not too far from downtown for dinner. All are fairly adventurous eaters (I've seen the three-year-old, when she was one, go to town on a Hmong beef tendon salad; she's actually probably the most adventurous of the bunch, except for chilies).

Normally I'd say Greektown, but MIL lives in Cyprus so that's not so exciting for her. We've settled on Chinatown, but I only know a small fraction of the options at all. Which are likely to be slightly less of a madhouse on a Friday night and more accomodating to small children?

I've had good experience at both LTH and Moon Palace with my kids and/or tables of 8.

Ditto Moon Palace; has a nice scale compared to some of the bigger places.

Thanks guys - now if we can just figure out how to fit toddler travel logistics, bedtime scheduling constraints, etc. into the mix, we'll be all set!

Go-4-Food would definitely work, especially at kid-eating hour (early). It's small and intimate but plenty casual enough for kids. We went a while back with jimswside and his daughter and had a great meal. I'm 99% sure they'll take a reservation as well.

Sadly, we can't go super-early because Mom won't be done with her conference until 6:30, so we're working with kind of a tight window...

If they take reservations, you'd be fine regardless.

Thanks for the ideas, all, but unfortunately nobody really either a) informed me about the tight time window until the last minute (some people are willing to stay out past 8 pm with small kids, but apparently not these guys, at least now, because she has been having random tantrums and they wanted her to be able to get back to the hotel quickly to calm her down) or b) ended up wanting to go more than a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Maybe next time they're in town...or heck, we don't need to wait for them!
