We are going to a wedding Friday, and we thought of giving a restaurant gift card and small check as a gift. However, the couple will be living in Plainfield, an extra hour's drive from the wedding location (Hickory Hills). Unfortunately, I have no time to get to that area to pick up a card before the wedding.

I wonder if there is a restaurant that you can recommend in the area that has an outpost up here. Or an upscale food-related store like Pastoral, etc.?

    Thanks!

Do you happen to work downtown?

LEYE (Lettuce Entertain You) has tons of locations, and you can pick up their gift cards - I believe - at any location. I usually go buy them at Petterino's downtown and my parents use them almost always at Wildfire in Oakbrook.

We just gave a wedding present of a Restaurant.com certificate, which can be used all over at selected restaurants. You could check their website and see which ones are out their way.

The Scott Harris empire has several Francesca's locations (Bolingbrook, Frankfort and a couple in Naperville) that might be more convenient to Plainfield than the nearest LEYE outpost which would be a Maggiano's in Naperville. The next closest LEYE's would be a few spots in Schaumburg or Oakbrook--neither of which is all that close to Plainfield. Not to say that they'll never set foot in Chicago again but if that was the case, there are probably a few other spots that you might want to choose than LEYE...
