I do indeed feel loved, thanks guys! And it turns out I am available Sunday, so I'll see you all then. I've definitely missed the dessert exchanges. Now I just need to figure out what I'll bring.

    Miss you also.

I read this last spring and got freaked out. Haven't had cookie, cake, ice cream, pie, candy, Italian Ice, etc. since May 7th. Of course it's much easier for me to do in the summer because all I need is black cherries and watermelon  . Don't worry, I still read these threads and if I thought I could bake something come and socialize for the entree and not touch the fantastic desserts I would. I'm sure I'll have these items again, I just don't know when.

Thanks to izzy & justjoan for hosting! Everything was tasty as usual, especially that fruit salad. And thanks to Cathy for bringing a cache of sugar syrups for us to taste and compare. Now I want to go to Mississippi for sorghum and ribbon cane syrup.

FYI - Ribbon cane was from Mississippi and the sorghum was from Iowa. I'm glad to finally crack open the ribbon cane, because it was far better than expected.

I'm sorry I was late and very glad I brought my dessert in advance. It was fun to have a homemade strudel, especially after missing the DankHaus class. Learning from others on how to handle the dough and all the stretching was very usefull.

Thanks to Izzy and Joan for a fine evening!

    Regards,

I echo the sentiments of the others. I had a wonderful evening full of good food, fine desserts, outstanding hospitality and great conversation. Thanks for taking care of my Izzy. Still working on the eye. I remember getting moisturizer in my eye a few days ago; it's either that or allergies.

i'm glad you liked the tart, chouxfly. i just discovered how much better it tastes heated up (325 for 5 minutes). it's not terribly sturdy, but it crisps up the bottom of the crust nicely. and my recipe for it is in the 2011 picnic recipe thread. joan

It was a delight to have you all as well. Great guests make for easy hosting. Joan was a stellar co-host. Thank you all for being so gracious with Tucker. The food was very good. I heated a slice of Joan's tart this afternoon, ten minutes at 325*, mmmmm! And the desserts! Savoring them all. I'm already looking forward to the next exchange. I thought it was pretty cool, that we all did such different desserts, without much discussion beforehand.

Izzy and Joan, thanks so much for hosting a wonderful evening. As always, the desserts were outdone only by the company. I'm definitely not going to wait this long between exchanges.

Here are the pictures I took. They're from my phone, so not the world's best, but hopefully they'll do.

I have interest, for shizz. I have my Year of Pies mapped out for almost every month til July.
This exchange you propose is the day after the Lunar Eclipse. Perhaps I should attempt moon pies.
