Coconut Scrapers?

We used to have an implement for scraping/grating fresh coconut. It looked like a medieval instrument of torture (similar, but not as heavy duty as this one) and was very effective and efficient in grating coconuts (see here for pics of usage)
Unfortunately, a while ago in a battle between a coconut and our not-so-heavy-duty scraper, the coconut won
I can (I think) get a replacement - something similar - on Devon, but I wonder what the alternatives are. I'm curious about alternate devices, prices and purveyors.

I have one at home...somewhere But you can possibly get one at UniMart - a filipino grocery store on Clark. If you can't find one there, ask around at the store for suggestions. Not sure, but perhaps some asian stores around Argyle will carry it too. Good luck!

I finally got around to picking one of these up. I was at Patel Bros. grocery buying ingredients for paneer bhurji and curry paste and I asked the cashier about the coconut scraper. She pointed towards a gentleman (manager? owner?) standing near the entrance. I spoke with him and after a brief exchange and hand gesturing (you know, the universal sign for coconut grater, sort of like the sign for 'he's crazy' but not near my head) and he left the store for a minute, headed a few doors down to open up Patel Bros utensil and handicrafts store and came back with this:


I spent a grand total of $40 at Patel Bros ($8 for my scraper, the rest for 4 bags of groceries which included some nice coconuts, Whole foods are you listening?).
I've been wanting one for a while and this thread made me want to get one even more. Last night I grated/scraped a coconut using Bill/SFNM's trick of putting the scraper piece into my drill. Unfortunately, my cordless drill ran out of juice so I used my cuisinart (I was making coconut milk so it didn't matter). But it seemed to be working great (for the 20 or so seconds before the drill stopped). My drill's charging so the next batch will def. be made with the scraper.

Note the 'cut resistant' glove on the hand holding the coconut--really crucial if you're clumsy like me and you like having 10 fingers.
