Will he drink oberweis milk, which is close to being organic, and which I personally think is better than any of the organic milk out there? I love oberweis milk, and I would drink it all the time, but right now my budget will not allow it. If you go to one of the oberweis stores, the milk is cheaper than it is every where else. I know that organic milk starts at $5.99 a gallon, although trader Joes might have it cheaper. Hope this helps, Nancy

I think he's even less likely to drink Oberweis milk, sadly.

Hi- Has anybody found the pumpkin spice coffee yet at Aldi's? They don't carry natural peanut butter at Aldi's do they? Natural peanut butter is one thing I can't find good coupons for. I love Whole Food's 365 peanut butter, but because of a shortage of peanuts right now, it is $2.99 a jar. Thanks, Nancy

I have never seen natural peanut butter at Aldi's. I think they just got your basic Jiff or Skippy knockoffs which I think due to the shortage are probably priced higher than 2.99 at the moment at regular grocery stores. not sure, but I know the peanut butter got ridiculously expensive in a quick minute.

Yes, they only carry the processed kind of PB. Also, in my opinion, it isn't very good.

Actually, every few months I've seen "natural" (meaning the ingredients are nothing but peanuts) peanut butter at Aldi as a limited-availability item. I'd also add that a LOT of items like these will not be found in Aldi stores in Chicago, you'll need to go to one of the suburban stores -- the farther west (and closer to their intergalactic HQ in Batavia) you go, the better.

I've been amazed at the number of Trader Joe's products I've seen at the west-suburban Aldi stores. Most recently it has been goat cheese, dark-chocolate-covered cherries, roasted-red-pepper hummus, and ginger snaps.

Hi- I am watching the 10:00 news, and they just said that there was a robbery and shooting at the Aldi's store at 90th and Halstead this evening. Apparently the security guard was killed, and another person got shot in the leg. Hope this helps, Nancy

My quest for the least skanky Aldi on the Southside today took me to 47th Street. First thing I saw: a guy standing by the carts asking for quarters; second thing was a picture of a guy who robbed the place. Crossing that location off the list.

    Also, no marzipan or stollen.

Went again yesterday and I still haven't seen the coffee. As a bonus they are out of the pumpkin spice cream cheese as well. I wonder if it is too late.

Anyhoo, I am not a fan of the Happy Farms cheese slices or blocks but I saw a Happy Farms cheese dip with port wine that I bought yesterday and I am hoping that that is at least decent. I saw new flavors of little blocks of cheese (The non Happy farms fancier cheese. Can't think of the brand name right now) and was wondering if anyone has tried the Cranberry White Cheddar Cheese? If it is tasty and worth three bucks I will definately buy it. They also have brie. I was considering buying but decided not to at the last minute. Anyone seen or try the brie?

I liked that white cheddar and the Stilton cheese. I like a lot of the imported cheese and the Happy Farms sharp cheddar is very good ... however, it is NOT inexpensive.

I was impressed by the quality of the ham I bought at Aldi's a few days ago. When I want to bake a ham, I usually buy whatever ham's at the grocery store (Jewel or Dominick's), if it's available at a good price. This is often but not always Cooks brand. I've noticed these throw off an awful lot of salty water as they bake. The Aldi's ham, in contrast, shed almost no water. And it cost half as much per pound.

Hi- I love Horizon's lowfat eggnog, which I usually pick up at Whole Foods, but it is not cheap, and I've noticed that Aldi's has eggnog on sale right now for a lot less money. Has anybody ever tried the eggnog at Aldi's, and do they carry a lowfat version of it? Thanks, Nancy

I purchase the brie whenever it is available at Aldi. At $2.99 its a great deal. Now its a pretty pedestrian brie, probably just President brand or something similar. Its ok by itself but I use it mainly for baked brie. I cut off the top, add some homemade cranberry chutney and wrap in puff pastry and bake. Its perfect for baked brie applications.

That white cheddar with cranberries is great. The cheddar is plenty sharp and crumbly and the cranberries are a nice tart counterpoint to the cheese. I love it by itself or on a turkey sandwich the day after thanksgiving.

Yum! That baked brie sounds wonderful. I think I might just go ahead and pick me up some of the brie and the cranberry white cheddar. Thanks for helping me decide.

Also, the cheese dip with port that I bought is actually pretty decent, particularly if you warm it up in the microwave for a few seconds. We use it to dip the baked potato chips we also get from them.

The past couple years just after Thanksgiving, Aldi sold 8oz wheels of Camembert that were much better than the brie. I hope it shows up again this year.

At my Aldi's in Maywood, there's often a very nice older gentleman who helps you put your groceries in the trunk and then will return the cart for you, hoping, of course, for the quarter. Strikes me as a perfectly reasonable exchange.

Hi- Does Aldi's have any black Friday specials every year? I took a look at Whole Foods 3 day sale starting today, and it underwhelms me. Last year WF had imported Parmesan cheese on sale for $10.95 a pound, and this year it is $16.95 a pound. They do have kombucha on sale this weekend, for those people who are fans of it. Thanks, Nancy

    Just tried this: http://aldi.us/us/html/offers/2827_15893_ENU_HTML.htm

For a one-year aged cheddar, pretty good. For a one-year aged cheddar at $4.25/lb...a fantastic value!

I also tried the Route 1 chocolate-covered peanuts. They're just OK...nowhere near as good as the last batch from a few months ago. However, I should have read the label -- hard to believe I made such a rookie mistake. The last batch had "No artificial flavors or colors" on the package, and its ingredient list was the same as the corresponding TJ's product. This package was missing the "No artificial flavors or colors" statement, and its ingredient list was, um, interesting.

Aldi brie: disappointing and gummy. Aldi goat cheese: creamy and flavorful. So far they're doing well in the cheese department, so the brie was a surprise. As long as you adjust your expectations the cheese does just fine.

I picked up a Quattro Formaggi pizza today at Aldi and it was quite good, as far as frozen pizzas go. The goat and Roquefort quarters were very good and it was not overloaded with topping. Something I will keep in the freezer for a quick light meal.

I also picked up the Cranberry Cheddar, recalling that I seen it in this thread as well. Looking forward to snacking on that as well. The Sundried Tomato cheese torta looked interesting as well.

It was a frozen Grandessa product. I thought it was quite good - but I am also living in central Indiana, deprived of anything resembling good pizza :)

Tried the Cranberry Cheddar today (on Aldi pepper and poppyseed crackers) and it was decent as well, especially given the price point and comparable cheeses.

Oh ok. Thanks for clearing that up. Have you ever tried the take and bake pizza in the regular refrigerated section? I bought a similar product at Sam's Club and it was pretty good and I have noticed for a while the same thing at Aldi's for less so I am wondering if it is good or at least decent.
