How strange. The times I've been in there, they have had a variety of fresh tortellini/oni, ravioli, etc. in the deli cabinet next to the register. I have not tried it, though.
I can also confirm that the packaging of their frozen stuff does not give anything away. This is my first time trying it and, sadly, I only rate it about 2 ½ stars: passable for a quick dinner. I, too, will be checking out Pasta Puttana.
