Several new places that have opened recently in my area:

    Smoke-N-Q
    2942 W 95th St
    Evergreen Park, IL
They have been there for a few months but I have not had the chance to check it out yet.

    Zacataco
northwest corner of 95th and Kedzie

    Calabria Imports-2nd location
    3500 block of W 95th St
    Evergreen Park, Il.
According to my local newspaper this was supposed to be located at the new Walgeens' development at 111th and Kedzie back in July. They are sill working on the build out there so I suppose they could not wait.

    Moon Burger
    3600 block of W 95th st
    Evergreen Park, IL

There is also a new sandwich shop opened up by a couple of Chicago fireman called Cafe One11 located on the 3700 block of W 111th St. In Mt Greenwood.

Lola's Diner has opened in the former Chickie's space in Park Ridge. I had a decent, if not groundbreaing, breakfast there today. Lola's is owned by the same people as the Sunrise Grill in Des Plaines and the Sunrise Restaurant in Mt. Prospect

    Culver's opens in Morton Grove.

Not gourmet but a good burger joint with a great attitude. Culver's FINALLY opened in Morton Grove after a 2 year wait. In the shopping center with Kappy's restaurant on Dempster just west of Harlem.

Casa Azteca is under construction at Wolf & Central in Des Plaines (sort of kitty-corner from Giacomo's)
The greater neighborhood has a couple decent Mex places: Mi Restaurante at Wolf & Kensington (which has turned over names three times since I've lived here) and Monica's a little further away at Milwaukee & Palatine, plus I'm sure a couple others.

I'll try it... but I keep going back to Monica's for their table salsa and pastor, and to Mi Rest. for their Carne en su Jugo.

There is a new Smash Burger in Elmurst right off 83 and St. Charles.

It is a stone's throw from Portillos.

I'll have to check it out to see whether it compares.

The folks from Noble Square's Kai Sushi are opening an outpost at the Chicago French Market. They expect to be up and running next week and it will be nice to have another lunch option at the FM.

Although Yelpers seem to think Kai's original location is awesome, I wasn't able to find any LTHForum coverage of the place. Anybody been?

Earlier this month I made a reservation for 12/23 on Opentable. Currently, however, the restaurant is not accepting Opentable reservations. Weird.

Goosefoot is set to open next week, December 11th. Reservations have just opened

To be sure, there are a ton of people trying to artificially inflate or deflate ratings on Yelp. But 99% of them seem to be new members with just one or two reviews. To be fair to "Nycole" and "Mironda," they have 143 and 22 reviews, respectively. Probably not scammers.

Big Fish Grille in The Geneva Commons closed this week. Instead of flat out blaming the economy, the owner cited that they just weren't doing enough business. They were a full service sit down restaurant with a pricey menu. Plus the Mall is peppered with many other eating options They were about 100 feet from Houlihan's, across the drive from Potbelly, around the corner from 5 Guys and Tom and Eddie and more. We only went once and not only was the food so so but the service was poor. We never had an inclination to go back.

Matthias Merges opened Yusho this past Saturday. The (mostly) skewered meats (small plates) were all really good. We particularly enjoyed the twice fried chicken, as well as the hazelnut grilled mochi dessert. The food came out in a seemingly mostly random order that we attributed to opening night.

They were BYOB this past weekend, our waiter indicated they were hoping to get their liquor license this week.

We live about two blocks away and are happy they've joined the neighborhood (Avondale / Logan Square).

It sounds like a package deal for the cab-driver crowd. Even if they're halal, who else would eat there for 30 straight days? It's not _that_ far from Albany Park's concentration of Arabic restaurants.

Aden has what none of the Albany Park places has. 15 free parking private spots at 10pm out in front. It's in a mini mall kind of setup, literally two minutes off the Kennedy from Austin Ave. at 10pm.
