It is time for the annual cookie exchange. It will be at my place from 3PM to 5PM. The idea is that 10 cookies per person will be brought and a 10 to share at the exchange. I am maxing this out at twelve people so the total of cookies baked will be 140 cookies at most. Please have the cookies prepackaged for those we will be passing out to other people. Can everyone email me the cookie recipe ahead of time so I can create a Cookie Exchange booklet.
I will be making mulled cider and wine to drink as well as a spinach tart for a light meal.
Look forward to seeing all the usual suspects.
    Dobra

    HI,

I will be there, if I have to drag myself there!

Dobra, if there are 12 people, shouldn't we bring 12 cookies to share (and perhaps 12 cookies per person to exchange?).

    Regards,
    Cathy2

People never eat the dozen cookies of each that we bring for the tasting as after three cookies people start getting in a sugar coma. If you have 12 of ten each that is 120 cookies a lot of cookies and I think enough for everyone to take home.

    Hi,

If you have twelve attendees, one cookie each is 12.

A dozen of anything is enough to share with others or make cookie gift boxes. Maybe I am not a metric girl, 10 is ackward for sharing later. I will work with 10 if that is what you want.

It is your show, I will will work with your wishes. Can't wait!

    Regards,
    Cathy2

I have a friend in Holland who sends these annually. Don't forget the recipe, because this is something I have a keen interest.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

That is great, if everyone could send me their recipes so I can put together a booklet for us so everyone can go home with all the recipes.
I am having an inner fight about what cookies to make, I am leaning towards rugelah as they are one of my favorites, but I might still change my mind. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Looking forward to this - and I've decided on my cookie. I'm going to bring "Turkish Mouthfuls" (translation of an old family recipe) - a sandwich cookie with jam filling and light lemon frosting.

Now need to go buy butter and flour....

    See you next week!

    Hi,

Last year I made marmalade for the very first time from scratch. I will use the various marmalades (meyer lemon, orange as well as a multi-citrus) to make Marmalade cookies.

I will definitely not make them as large as suggested: 2 tablespoons of batter per cookie.

I'll make a batch tomorrow evening to check for any issues.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Another successful cookie exchange, thank you to everyone for coming and bringing the delicious cookies. My daughters enojoyed the cookies last night and will this afternoon while we put up our Christmas tree.
At night I was reading a great book and munching on the cookies with tea with fabulous music in the background. That was the perfect way to end my evening.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to everyone.

The festivities began with a light lunch of irisarbor's fresh corn chowder served with Dobra's spinach quiche, salad and bread (not pictured).

Once we ate the sensible food, then we got down to business of sampling the lovely cookies everyone brought to share and exchange:

Clockwise beginning with the cookie at noon: irisarbor's raspberry almond pinwheels, Cathy2's marmalade cookies, Diane ck's thumbprint cookies, RomanticCynic's "Turkish Mouthfuls," leek's The Barefoot Contessa's Ultimate Ginger Cookies, Cookie Monster's rugelach, Cookie Monster's chocolate-cranberry cookies, Ms. Ingie's pecan tassies and snap 203's peppermint marshmallows.

It was all very, very good.
