Sadly - I must give up my spot for this affair. Just found out I have out of town relatives coming in that evening. Bon Apetit! :D

Let me clarify: you want to be pairs+4 total? Or +3?

Right now we're at 11, so I can't add more, but I can put your additional add-ons on the waiting list, if that makes sense.

Since we are getting ever closer to the date, I want to check on the menu. We have two meaty and one veg so far, and I think four 12" pies would be nice. Or is that too much? Should I order four 10"?

I can't tell whether the Saveur Coverpie has meat on it or not. I think we should have two meaty and two veg.

Please make another selection for another meaty pizza and veg pizza to add. I'll choose the one in the appropriate category that has the most votes, and in case of a tie, I'll choose the one that sounds most appealing.

I've been standing by quietly as this thread progressed, minding my own business until it seemed like you might need some guidance.

The 12" (medium) pies are cut into six pieces. In the old days (back in the 70's and 80's) that would have fed three people. These days, it's more like two people, and sometimes folks order a medium for just one person, intending to take some home.

If you have 10-11 people in your group, I recommend getting at least three 14" (large) pizzas. This will give you a total of 24 pieces of pizza, insuring everyone will get at least two pieces. If your group is ready to do some serious damage, you can either order four large pizzas, or three extra larges (16"). Personally, when I'm organizing a big group for Burt's, I prefer to go with the "smaller" size (14"), get more pies and more diversity in the ingredients.

However, this is your party to run as you choose. I just wanted to give you a couple of inside tips to make things more enjoyable for you and your guests.

    See you on the 21st!

    Buddy

P.S. The pizza on the cover of Saveur was, I believe, spinach, mixed pepper, sliced tomato, and garlic. But I won't swear to that.

    B.

All right, four 14" pizzas should be okay then.
I'll ask about the Coverpie when I call.

That photo was taken almost four years ago. Burt's memory as to what exactly is on that pizza may not be much better than mine, but you never know. I can tell you for sure it has spinach and mixed pepper on it. The rest is speculation.

In that case, I'll order what your previous post said: spinach, mixed pepper, sliced tomato, and garlic. I think, then, we need something with pepperoni. If anyone has a suggestion for another topping to go with pepperoni, please let me know.

All right, the order has been placed but I'm confirming on the 18th, so if there's something I missed, please let me know before then.

I asked about the cost, and the rough estimate minus drinks, tax, and tip, is $104. So this is how I ciphered the total bill per person:
    $104 for food
$2.50 per drink x 10 people = $25 (booze will be on a separate bill)
    Subtotal, plus 10% tax = $142
Plus 20% tip = $170, give or take...

So bring $20 and you should be fine, unless you plan on getting sloshed.* I'll stop by the bank and get singles and small bills so I can play banker.

They ask that we arrive 15 minutes early, as they are pretty spot-on with timing. See you there!

Can that 2nd vegetarian pie also have mushrooms, but NO onions or olives?

Don't worry, I didn't order any with olives, because olives are nasty nasty nasty. There, I said it!

Also, nothing has onions, unless they put it in the sauce.

I like olives, but pizza olives tend to be the nasty kind. Onions, in sauce are fine. I like onions. I just loathe them, unless caramelized, in scrambled eggs or on pizza.

I just confirmed with Burt, I presume, and we are good to go. He reminded me to be 15 minutes early (arrive at 5:15), which is when the salad and appetizer platter will be out. The pizzas will arrive at 5:30.

Did I imagine things or is there a parking lot in back?

No public parking in back. There are about five spaces on the street right in front, on the east side of the street. There is no parking on the west side of the street, directly across from the store, before 6:00pm. You can park on both sides of the street, at any time, a little further north on the block.

I don't think I can make it - if someone else can take my 2 spots that would be great.
If no one want's to take my 2 spots, I don't want to blow the whole outing for everyone so I can still show up but we'll probably be late.
