Greektown Help Needed

We're going to be a group of 10-12 next Saturday night. As a result, I had to give up my sacred spot for pizza at Burt's

Anyway, there's going to be a couple of seniors in the group that are (and I'm being polite) hearing challenged. Food-wise, I'm not overly concerned. Which spot would be best from a noise level perspective? Thanks in advance.

Those Greeks like the noise! Roddity's is my favorite, I've never noticed it being extremely loud there, I would try and go early since the crowds/noise levels are usually lower.

Based on a recent meeting of the GNR Committee, I would recommend against Greek Islands, based on the noise level. OTOH, they are the best in Greektown at handling large parties.

Some parts of the restaurant are quieter than others, and if you request quiet, they can often accommodate you.

Ive noticed they are all pretty loud except Santorini was quiet .......but probably the worst food in greektown too so I doubt that helps

It's part of their strategy to keep things quiet.

Heh, heh. You got that right.

My grandparents were very hearing challenged and it caused many problems when we would go out to eat or out in public in general but they regularly made reservations at Greek Islands and they always accommodated. 6 on a saturday night is still kind of early and should work out. Just let them know before you get there.

As was posted above, we (the GNR committee) were there at this same hour on a weeknight and couldn't hear each other from one end of the table to the other, so if you go this route, I guess you should specify that you want to sit somewhere quiet. That, I did not do when I made our reservation and I'm still catching sh*t for it!

As a follow up - just got back from dinner at Pegasus. No problems with the noise level at 6pm. We had a table towards the back of the house. Good food and company. The restaurant was surprisingly not too crowded throughout the evening. Thanks for the tips.

I'm glad things worked out for you Dave148 but it is a real shame that with all the Greek cuisine restaurants in this town a grand total of one is currently a GNR...and that's their fault for sure.

Which restaurant in Greektown would you recommend for this Saturday, late-ish dinner between some long-time internet friends who are meeting for the first time in person? We'll want to be able to hear each other, but there's a good chance we'll be making a lot of noise ourselves.

I've been to Greek Islands and Pegasus (good enough; probably not the best Greek food out there), but never Roditys.

Greek Islands on a Saturday night will be decidedly non-conversation friendly.
