Hi- I used to get my parmesan at Whole Foods, but the price for Wisconsin chunk domestic parmesan is now $10.99 a pound. The last time I bought it, I was at Aldi's and they have a one time purchase of Bel Giosso, and I haven't seen it since then. I don't want over a pound at a time, so that rules out the warehouse clubs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Nancy

Trader Joe's has good domestic and imported parmesan -- good prices, both in block form and grated. Doesn't break the bank and does the job.

I second the Caputo's reccomendation or you may even want to try Fresh farms in Niles. Both stores always reasonable with prices and Caputo's often has sales on cheeses.

Hi- Thanks for all the advice. I ended up going to Fresh Farms Thursday, and they have Bel Gioioso for $5.99 a pound, which is a really good deal. This is the brand that is top rated in Cook's Illustrated in their review of domestic Parmesan. I live in Evanston, and I do go there on occasion. I never go to Caputo's.

While I was checking out there though, I noticed that there was a store coupon for 10% off your order. Do they have those coupons very often? How do I acquire one? I looked on their website, but I did not see any coupons to print. Thanks, Nancy.

FF had a color insert with the 10% offer in last Wednesday's Tribune. Occasionally they have a $10 for $20 Groupon.

Hi- Thanks for letting me know about the coupon. When I was in the checkout line, I saw somebody give the cashier a 10% off coupon, and I wondered where she got it.

I like the store, but I live in Evanston, and it is too far to justify a special trip there, and the store is kind of a zoo every time I go there, although Jerry's is even worse. At least Fresh Farms has plenty of parking. Thanks, Nancy
