    Hi,

Another lovely time sharing recipes and stories are packaged up and in the memory box. Ms. Ingie was a gracious hostess who offered a pleasant meal before we dug into the desserts.

This cake was prepared in December following Dorie Greenspans instructions. At Cookie Monster's suggestion, this was prepared with an initial temperature of 425 degrees for five minutes, then lowered to 375 degrees for 30 minutes more.

Thanks Ms Ingie! That was a delicious meal. I can't wait to eat that mushroom pie for lunch. :)

Just thinking, so this is not set in stone, but how would people feel about having the next exchange on the 5th?

I remember I made one more change to the cranberry upside down cake: I used a 9-inch pan instead of an 8-inch. At 9-inch, two cups of cranberries laid out on almost a single layer. When it was the smaller pan, some migrated into the batter.

For memories of dessert exchanges past, this is last months cake:

Not sure if it makes a difference, but that is Superbowl Sunday. Perhaps that is intentional.

It wasn't. I didn't even know when that was. I figured I'd be baking on the 4th for Chocolate Sunday, so I could do it all at once. But another day would work just as well.

pielady: you want to attend 'chocolate sunday', and then have a dessert exchange the same day at your place?? well, if you're up for it, the date works for me. superbowl means nothing to me. but if superbowl is an issue for others, all my sundays in february are open. so sorry to miss those delicious looking desserts last night.... justjoan

I don't have a problem with it either, although I have attended Chocolate Sunday before and it's pretty fun. $10 for all the chocolate desserts you care to eat and the money goes to the Cat Guardian's charity.

I will have to miss it if its superbowl sunday...going to another event. If everyone else wants it that day do not hold it up for me. I can have March at my place.

Here is the recipe for Sweet chocolate tea cake. If you can not find germans sweet chocolate you can substitute semi sweet chocolate. Not bitter or unsweetened baking chocolate.

Dessert sabbatical? I didn't hear about this? Do tell.

By the way, I made my daughter try the mushroom pie; she loved it.

I had so many sweets at the exchange that it seemed like two days' worth, so I decided I would go an entire day without dessert. It didn't work yesterday, so it's today instead.

Chouxfly I just ate one and it was amazing....baked it up in the convection oven...buttery, flaxy, and good.

I have one more left and I know I will eat it. I gave some desserts to my family but ate some of them myself. Bad girl me.

Message to Monsieur Chouxfly and fellow dessert exchange buddies (you know who you are).
Wow. The apple turnover was wonderful at the DE. Yes. But, even better was letting it defrost in the 'fridge and heating it in the toaster oven. Voila!!! Fabulous. I did it for the suggested time. Did not brush it at all. And shared it with my husband and child. Hard to do but necessary.
    Thanks from all of us
