Not a whole lot of coverage here on Connersville, Indiana. Where's Connorsville? It's midway between Indianapolis and Dayton, a bit south of I-70. If you're traveling to the Hamburger Wagon in Miamisburg it's possible you will pass through Connorsville.

    I liked almost everything about Kunkel's . . .

. . . except the Kunkelburger that is.

It probably would have been a perfectly fine drive-in burger but it was completely ruined for me by big gobs of super-sweet mayonnaisey glop. In retrospect, it was a big mistake for me to order a Kunkelburger but I couldn't resist. I hope I get back some day to do it right—a hand-breaded tenderloin, fresh-made onion rings and a malt. Maybe even a slice of homemade pie. I think Kunkel's is better than it showed me that day.

Connersville has other attractions besides Kunkel's. According to one intriguing report, Mousie's serves one of the best patty melts ever. Unfortunately Mousie's was closed that day so I may never know.

I know the feeling. When I go to a small place I've never been before, and they have a signature dish ("Mauston Marty's Famous Three-Layer Liver Burger," or whatever), I am drawn strongly to it, and there's a better than 3-to-1 chance I will order it. Not sure if that's the psychology behind your lack of resistance.

There's no possible way I could go to a place called Kunkel's and not consider getting a Kunkelburger (it didn't hurt that they were on special at 2 for $3.50). I'm a real sucker for named food (eg, Mother in Law, Big Baby, Freddy) and if it's named after the restaurant, so much the better. We'd just had a very satisfactory Twin Steer at the Steer-In so were in the mood to try another signature burger. Unfortunately that Kunkelsauce just wasn't to my taste.
