Todoroki Hibachi & Sushi just opened at Davis & Chicago in Evanston. In addition to many hibachi offerings, there's all you can eat sushi for $16.95 at lunch, or $22.95 at dinner. Haven't tried it yet.

Don't put on that orange jumpsuit just yet. The best ones I can remember having in a long time were served recently at Inovasi in Lake Bluff. Of course, that's not exactly a bakery that you can just walk into and buy some donuts but I figured it was at least worth a mention. Maybe they're selling them at the Wisma locations, though they are not on their online menu.

Los Moles (3140 N. Lincoln) has closed.

There were may times when my wife and I were the only people in there on a Saturday night. I never understood how they stayed open for so long -- it never developed any sort of following.

As I posted elsewhere, I miss when The Keg used to be a decent seafood joint - when I was a kid, I used to beg to go there on my birthday. Haven't set foot in there in many years. Apparently this was a loooooong time coming.

Yeah, for a minute I thought I was going crazy, but I knew I'd read something that said the place was actually closing. It was this:

"The Keg is being forced to close."

Much heated discussion is going on now on other Evanston-related Facebook pages.

Phil's Last Stand is opening today at 10:30am in Ukrainian Village. They will be open until 4am on the weekends (including Thursday) and midnight during the week.

They have been practicing/training this week and I stopped in for a double fatso (double 1/4 pounder) last night. They are serving their burgers In N Out style with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, (grilled) onion and 'fatso sauce'. I believe you can also sub in Merkt's-style cheese if you'd like. It was a pretty good burger and I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.

    good one. :D

I was involved in the rehab of the previous Max & Ermas location which Eddie Merlots took over(these cats spent some $$$$). Next location is in Warrenville, another former Max & Erma's.

Burr Ridge location is 2 mintues from my work, cant say im overly interested in checking it out other than my part in the project. Ill probably stick with Del Rhea's for that occasional 5 o'clock cocktail.

I posted this in the Taco grill thread as well...

I got a flier in the mail the other day that there was a Taco Grill in Lombard now on Roosevelt. Doing a little research, it seems that it is where Fonda Isabel used to be. There's also an article that the owners of Taco Grill and (the now closed) Fonda Isabel are the same. If any of this is inaccurate, please feel free to correct!!

Ben Tre on the far northside closed. It was pretty much out-of-the-way on Touhy, just off of Kedzie.
I liked their pho and a few other things, so I shall miss them.

New owners are remodeling the place now and the sign in the window says Bangkok Wok is coming soon.

I was in Ben Tre about a month ago, early evening, had my requisite banx xeo (shrimp & veggie-filled crepe) and bun bo salad. I was the only patron, and while I was in there either a banker or their landlord came in and was talking about 'restructuring'--I couldn't help overhearing--and the family just looked forlorn. That's when I kinda knew the jig was up. So sad, very nice people. I remember attending an Evanston Lunch Group event at Ben Tre.

So...I guess for good Vietnamese on the far north side or collar suburbs it's either Hoanh Long near Lincoln Village or Dung Gia near the Des Plaines train station.

On a previous, Now closed, open/closing thread, news was Rosario's Italian Sausage was going to be closing, with the link to the newspaper article. Bad news definitely.

I was in there today to get some sausage and pics of the sign before they were to close. Heard from one of the owners they are going to stay open a while longer as their plans had changed.
