In an effort to have Jennifer McLagan, author of "Bones", "Fat", and most recently, "Odd Bits", come to visit Chicago as part of promoting her book, I reached out to her inquiring about how best to get her here. She indicated that if there was enough "noise" that she would come in the new year. She suggested a petition, so that, I assume, if it is long enough she could show her publisher who would arrange a visit.

A very generous supporter of the 5th Quarter has volunteered space and treats. Please sign petition here (http://homemadebacon.wordpress.com/jennifermclagan/) if you would like to visit with her and spread the word, if you know others who would support this cause.

Might Culinary Historians arrange a lecture? That might be the best audience.

    Hi,

I contacted her when she was promoting Fat. She has an open invitation, though she has likely forgotten. She was here a few years ago promoting Bones. I went to the program with low expectations and came away very impressed. She had a shoe carton filled with various animal bones that she would select and talk about.

She had mentioned that she made oxtails last time that she was here and they went uneaten. I know that would no longer be the case. At least if I was there.

    Hi,

I cannot recall what was made by our cooks, though I am pretty sure it was not oxtails. And certainly Jennifer did not make them for our group, because we prepare the food on our side.

Whatever occasion you are referring to, it was not the Culinary Historians meeting. Now there was likely a ChicaGourmet meeting afterwards, where anything could happen.

    HI,

I gave destiny a little push from my side, too.

Jennifer McLagan will be speaking for Culinary Historians on March 17th at 10 am at Kendall College. Further information will be provided once a notice is available.

    Regards,
    Cathy2
