Had a random drink at Francesca's Forno last night that wasn't bad. I haven't had a chance to try recreating yet, figured I'd ask if any of you know of the drink or drinks similar and have recipes?

    Menu here said:
    Bourbon (buffalo trace)
    Averna Amaro
    Cynar
    Lemon
    Fee's old fashioned

Just saw this post: http://lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=22284&p=365293&hilit=brass#p365293, makes sense that it could have demarara syrup since it had a touch of sweetness to it

I'll try here in a couple of hours and I'll post back if I find a good ratio. Let me know if you've got any ideas.

Seems related to the Boulevardier, a very old classic.

Here's what I ended up with:

    1.5oz Bourbon (I used old weller 107)
    .5oz averna amaro
    .5oz cynar
    .5oz lemon juice
    .5oz simple syrup

    Shaken, add old fashioned bitters

Feels pretty close, but slightly off?

I see it as more akin to a Paper (Air)Plane, a Sammy Ross drink that Toby adapted for the Violet Hour.

Depending on who's making it, that drink is equal parts Bourbon (Buffalo Trace or Elijah Craig), Amaro (Nonino), Bitter (Campari or Aperol) and Lemon Juice...shaken and served up.

I would start with equal parts and work your way out from there. Use a dash of Demerara, if necessary. But it shouldn't really be...the Averna and Cynar have enough sugar in them.
