I've got room now so if anyone has a decently priced good quality gas grill in Chicago, please let me know.

Beware, gas grills don't last forever. The self-ignition is usually the first thing to fail (and quickly), but other parts too will wear, corrode, etc. I have nothing against looking for bargains, but you're better off buying used for things that are likely to last a long time. Things that wear out, not so much.

There are always sales on many of the gas grills at the various home improvement stores (Home Depot, Lowe's, Menard's) - probably even more in another couple of months than now - and you can also find a nice assortment at nice prices at Walmart.

On the other hand I have a Weber gas grill that will be 18 years old this May, I've replaced the grates, but it works as well as it ever did. I'm very good about cleaning and covering it, but it's really a second oven besides being a grill for me.

Whoa, did you say 2nd oven? Okay behind the freezer or stand alone fridge or just the biggest fridge/freezer ever, this is totally going on the list of wants.

The parts that wear out on gas grills can easily be replaced by a handy person like Mike, as long as replacement parts can be found. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used Weber, as long as it wasn't more than 10 years old or so, since Weber is pretty good about stocking replacement parts even for discontinued models. I had a Kenmore grill that was over 10 years old when the burners finally rusted apart. Unfortunately they no longer carried the replacement burners, or I would still have that grill.

You might also want to check estate sales for a used gas grill, those are a fairly common item.

Weber has their factory in Huntley and periodically has warehouse sales. Their website is also excellent for looking for parts, schematics and such.

i would be checking Craigslist as there are always used Webers for sale on there. I wouldnt hesitate to buy a used Weber gas grill . I have had mine for a good 20 years and cook on it year round. I have had to replace the igniter and burner bars a couple times(and thats with heavy year round usage in that time period) but they are cheap and easily installed.
I personally would stay away from the cheaper ones used or new

I picked up one of these last fall at Home Depot on clearance for $99. It's popped up to $250 now but there are still a few deals around:

It's a decent quality model with a pizza stone insert and some other accessories. I have a Weber Genesis and a separate smoker but I thought I'd give this a shot for the price. It's nicely built and heats well.
