i'll be spending a weekend in vegas in a couple weeks, and i was wondering if anyone had suggestions for breakfast, preferably on the strip (or nearby), not steak centered, and of course, tasty. thanks in advance!

Brunch at Commander's Palace is fantastic; I highly recommend it. Although the cost is steep -- $36 -- it's worth it.

As I reported in http://lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=4429 the Peppermill (across from Circus Circus, just south of Wynn) is a great place for a not-cheap breakfast. 10-egg omelets, excellent pancakes, bacon, juice, etc.

I just found out that they have a plaque (a bronzed plastic simulated excrement) commemorating the movie "The Aristocrats" -- I musta missed it, and I'm not sure how it's related, except that I think the Peppermill is a late-nite hangout of comedians, Penn & Teller, etc.

I'll second the recommendation for the Peppermill (actually, I was the one who suggested it in the first place). It's a "must visit" location for me during any Vegas trip. Not only does it have a connection to the Aristocrats, but several scenes of the movie Casino were shot there in the lounge area. They have a distinctive fireplace that actually has flames leaping from a pool of water...and cocktail waitresses that are more than happy to serve you a stiff drink during breakfast.

I dined at the Peppermill and can second (third?) the recommendation. A really fun place and the food was good too.

As for the connection to the "The Aristocrats", I believe the idea for the movie was conceived at the Peppermill.

two blocks east of Bally's is a small casino called Ellis Island. They serve and excellent and inexpensive breakfast ie: omelets, eggs, hash browns, etc.

If you get outvoted for breakfast, find some other time to go to visit the Peppermill lounge, and I do mean LOUNGE, area--preferably between 2 and 4 AM. While the dining area is normal for anywhere, the lounge is one of the hidden treasures in LV-like a room in the Playboy mansion circa 1960, but on crack.
