Heat and Kaze sushi chef Macku Chan might be interested in these. He uses strawberries as an accent to his sushi.

I admit, it sounds odd, but putting fruit in sausage is not uncommon: apple is a typical sausage additive, and Hot Doug adds blueberries to some of his wieners (though, come to think of it, that is my least favorite of Doug's creations). The milk aspect, too, has a tradition; I remember especially the excellent cream sausage that used to be sold at Jim's Market.

I think the odd part is not that they would put fruit in a sausage, but rather that they would put fruit in a fish sausage.

Fruit and fish have always been an odd combo for me, but some years ago I had fish and grapes, and they were not bad together (though not my fav). When you think about it, though, lemon and fish are a very common combo, as are tomatoes and fish, so why not fish with, say, oranges, apples or...strawberries. It's odd, I admit.

You're right--though, it's not that weird. My favorite dish at Dorado is the red snapper with guava beurre blanc (fish, fruit and dairy). Maybe what's strange (to us) is the marketing angle. "Strawberry Milk Sausage."

I tend to really dislike doug's fruit-based sausages. They're often far too sweet for me. Far, far too sweet. Sickly-sweet sometimes.

To be perfectly honest Doug's specials lately have left me quite underwhelmed. I'm not sure if he's running out of ideas, or just executing new ones poorly, but I've had a fair number of pretty mediocre $6 sausages. But this is the wrong thread for that.

I like Hot Doug's and I like Doug, but I do feel his sausages are overpriced. Then again, what we're paying for, in part, is novelty. The venison, Waygu, etc., it's fun...and that's what we pay for, I guess.

Not sure if it contains fruit, but I bought this radioactive looking fish sausage at one of the candy shops in Chinatown mall. I believe the salesperson said it was a fish candy snack.
