CP Meat Market - New Lenox, IL.

My qwest for bratwurst lead me to CP Meat Market a few weeks ago. Conveniently located in New Lennox I was tipped off to their sausage by a writeup in Chicago Magazine. Sounded good, but how would they stack up against the best(Wurst kitchen, Johnnie's, Inboden's & even Ream's)?? In a word, brilliant.. Perfect season blend, not too much salt. Just a perfectly balanced brat.

I have returned to CP Meats 3 out of the last 4 Fridays on the way home from work, adding brats to my collection as well as sampling some pork ribs as well. My stop last night had me grabbing some pork breakfast sausages, Italian sausage and a whole packer brisket.

A family run spot around since 1976, the staff is all business, but they know where their meat comes from, the cuts of meat, etc., yesterday they were curious what my plans were for the brisket and we chatted how it was going to be cured for some brisket and pastrami.

Prices are more than fair for their housemade brats and sausages i have bought, about $2.99/lb. Other meats were fairly priced as well. Whole packer was $3.19/lb. Fair prices, great product, a only way for a real butcher shop to do business.
